We received the Keurig K65 that we asked for on our registry from FI’s mom, sister and SIL. As the lone coffee drinker in the house, I have wanted one for awhile and was pumped to get it. FI is excited for the hot chocolate, ha. We haven’t opened it yet, as I still have some coffee filters to use up on my existing coffee maker.
We were at BBB last night exchanging a few things, and saw that Kuerig 2.0 was now out. Very similiar, but also different. I got home and started researching it, and saw that it gives you the option of the individiaul cups, but also has a karafe if you want to make more than just that one or two cups. That would be great for the weekends when I usually make more than one cup. However, the reviews were not that great – and a lot of people were upset that you couldn’t use old k-cups, or generic (non-Kuerig) k-cups in the machine. But, as long as the k-cup had the white border and said “Kuerig Brewed”, those were fine. Seems minor, but still an issue I would think.
Does anyone have the 2.0? Any problems? Do you like it over other Kuerig’s you may have owned?

Kacie209: My sister got the 2.0 for her wedding and they ended up returning it for the regular model. You have to use Kuerig brand cups in it OR cut the ring/rim off of store brand or any other brand cups.
That would be a huge no-go for me because I like to buy specific non-Kuerig brands of coffee like Starbucks and such or flavored store brand ones and, like you mentioned, hot chocolate. It literally will not run any other cups through it.

Kacie209: I would stick with what you have. As PP said with the 2.0 you have to use Kuerig brand cups. Honestly I bought a Kuerig this past spring and hate it. Not worth the money and right now it is sitting at my parents place. My parents were going to try it, if they like it they can keep it.

Sassygrn: playdohpants: Thanks for the input!
My heart is telling me to just keep what I have, so that the capability of using whatever k-cups I want is there. Especially, the hot chocolate for FI so he can at least get some use of it. I never use a full karafe of coffee the way it is, even on a weekend – so although the option is great, it’s not super necessary. I usually end up pouring a lot of it out that I didn’t get to, and this machine will prevent that.
What a pain to have to cut around the older k-cups just to use them in this machine, ugh.

i don’t know much about kurigs since i don’t drink coffee. but we did get one for our wedding. DH loves it. we also bought the $15 kurig reuseable filter and you can put your own ground coffee it in. so now DH making coffee is like 15 cents per cup instead of the expensive k-cups which i think are about $1 each.

ajillity81: I did get one of those too at a shower (the reusable cup), and read that you can’t use that with the 2.0. I’m excited to have the option.
I think I’ll stick to what I got!

I have a regular Keurig, and am intrigued the 2.0 for the carafe, but I think it’s too new. The off-brand cups and junk will probably take a while to get into the market.
