Hey crazy LA cats,
Glitter, Me and Mrs. Bee are trying to organize an LA Bee Meetup on Jan. 10th or 11th. Who's in? Last time we tried a meetup it was kind of a bust, but this one promises to bee (get it) a hoot, and you'll get to meet the Queen (Mrs Bee of course) since she'll be visiting.
Maybe somewhere central, like Hollywood?
Comment with your date preference and location, and we'll make it happen. Looking forward to meeting you!
Oh, I wish there was one in Las Vegas. I would be the first one there. lol Have fun!!!!
where is yardhouse?
anywhere that's not too loud that can accommodate a decent sized group is fine with me!
I'm gonna vote for the 10th - if that's ok. I'm only free in the morning on the 11th, and I doubt y'all want to do breakfast :)
I don't think I can do the 10th. But possibly the 11th? (My MOH is visiting). I would love to come and meet everyone.
long beach is fine for me -- i fly in on jetblue to long beach every time i visit! but is it a little far for la peeps?
i guess i always think of koreatown as central since it's between the westside and downtown. i am used to driving though, so i am up for anywhere that's convenient for most people!
Sadly, Long Beach is pretty far for me, too. Koreatown or somewhere close to K-town would be nice!
Mama Glitter's birthday is January 10th, but I'm going to try extremely hard to see what I can do. I'm excited for the Meet Up!!
i was only suggesting yardhouse in long beach cuz of the nice scenery, beer, food! i think they have one in pasadena too? i dunno any other location suggestions?
mrs bee, when will you be in town?
I'll be there the 9th - 14th, so we were planning on something over the weekend, the 10th or the 11th.
I haven't gone out in LA in such a long time, I have no idea where to go anymore! There are tons of cafe/bars in ktown... dunno if you guys want to do that. We could do Saturday brunch?
If ya'll are down for the Westside, Father's Office in Culver City is nice.
I'm game for whatever...
oh ive heard good things about that place, isn't it in santa monica? we could goto 3rd street? there are tons of places there
@msduck: Mr. G and I were just in Long Beach for his company's holiday party. I'm embarrassed to say that I've never really been to LB. We stayed at the Westin. It really is so beautiful near the water!! Kinda reminded me of San Diego.
Sorry...I'm not helping here. I'm always open to the Westside (because it is most convenient for me!) but to stay central, I'd be more than happy with Koreatown. Mr. G could recommend a bunch of places depending on what we are looking for. There are so many cool, new cafes!
There's a Father's Office in CC? Is it the same as the one on Montana in Santa Monica? That place could be lots of fun too...
@glitter: ohh its thats really close to the pier area, like one street or so over. its sooooooooo nice by the pier, if you eat at any of the places around there, you can take a stroll around and see the waters, its really quite nice.
Yay! We definitely need another meet-up!
Breakfast on the 11th works for me... mimosas anyone?
yah there is a new father's office (very spacious) in culver city. i prefer the santa monica location personally, but you know how crowded it can get.
Ok - I have to be in Beverly Hills at 2:30 on the 11th, so I could do something around 10:30 maybe.
The Grove might be a perfect place to meet - they've got a few large restaurants (the farm, cheesecake factory) and its pretty central to east/west siders.
How does that sound?
The Grove is fine with me! I hate the parking there, but I still love the Grove. Cheesecake doesn't accept reservations though, right?
There are two Father's Office(s) one in Santa Monica (the original) and one in Culver City (the new one). The burgers are AMAZING there.
I can't do Saturday night but I could do brunch on Sunday. I don't know LA really well (I'm an OC girl here in Newport) but I do know how to get to Chinatown for Dim Sum! :o) Anywhere up north works for me, I'll just punch it in the nav.
Hello ladies! [waves hi]
I would prefer Sunday...and somewhere centralized since I'm driving from the eastside.
How exciting!
Thank goodness for a wedding resourse like the weddingbee in helping all brides-to-be in their wedding planning! I would love to join in this Los Angeles meet-up if it's still open and not exclusive. I think PrettyKitty's suggestion of dim sum sounds great. Dim sum is not too early or too late (Chinese brunch) and most dim sum places are affordable on the wallet (huge plus in my book since I'm on a budget with a wedding to host) and provide a very relaxing environment that can accomodate large groups. Plus, the food is pretty good too with a variety of different choices that will hopefully satisfy everyone.
dim sum can actually be pretty crazy, and they don't like you to sit long since they're very busy. i was thinking something a little more low key? i still like the idea of the grove, but i'll look for some more affordable alternatives!
Hi Ladies! I'm new to Weddingbee, and would love to meet up with all of you! As of now, either day works for me. I'm coming from the valley, so westside-ish would be good. I'm on a budget too, so somewhere not too pricey would be great!
I was just at the Grove in Beverly Hills today! We went to Maggiano's Little Italy restaurant, which was surprisingly affordable and somewhat decent, both regarding food and service. Since the portions are huge (and I mean a singe portion could feed a family of four), half portions are allowed and much cheaper, being about $8-15 for half portions. However, the only major down side was parking. Despite being validated, I still had to pay $4 for parking while our friends who parked in the lot for the Farmers' market had to pay $11 for parking since there's no validation. Since the Grove is pretty crowded during the holidays, and there were long lines of people at nearly every restaurant at the Grove, the waiters were not as patient with lingering or socializing diners. Before we even finished our meal, the check was placed at our table and our server was hovering above us waiting for payment. Hopefully, my dining experience will be an isolated incident that others will not encounter.
Hmmm I've been wracking my brain trying to come up with a good place to go. I guess I haven't been out in LA for quite some time!
The more I think about it, I think the Grove will be really crazy busy, esp around the holidays, and parking there really is a nightmare.
How about Mexican -- Guelaguetza or El Cholo in Koreatown? Casual, inexpensive, and they're both close off the 10 freeway. Since we have people coming from the OC, the Westside, and Hollywood, Koreatown seems the most central. Or El Coyote is near the Grove...
Let's make a decision soon so I can make a reservation. ![]()
El Cholo sounds great to me! Yummy.
Did we decide on the 10th or 11th? It seems we are stuck between dinner on the 10th or brunch on the 11th. El Cholo does serve a brunch (according to their website). I've only been there for dinner, but the food is always good.
I think more people can do brunch on the 11th, so that may be our best bet.
What do you all think? 11 am on the 11th at El Cholo?
Awesome! I'll make a reservation when we're closer to the date. So far the following peeps are confirmed!
