My friend was planning her wedding and all of the sudden her mom got very, very ill and will be undergoing rigorous treatment for her illness very soon, so she's looking to move her wedding date up ASAP.

She's looking at 150-200 guests and her budget is approx $100 a head. I was wondering, since you've all done a lot of research already, if you've got any ideas as far as wedding venues in the LA area that fit this bill? My instant thought was to recommend the Marvimon (Sprinkle's venue) but I'm not sure it fits into this price range (and I think because she's looking at a really soonish date, the more leads she has the better).

Any names of cool venues you know of in LA that you think I should recommend would be great! Probably places that do weddings or parties on a regular basis---I don't think she's looking to find a place that she has to bring everything into, as she's on a really quick turnaround.

Oh gosh, how stressful! I hope the treatment goes well. I'm glad she's considering moving her date; it's something she'll never forget. (My cousin did so so that our grandma could be present at the wedding and it was a beautiful memory.)

I'm biased since this is where I got married, but Calamigos Ranch would be a great bet. It can fit 150-200 guests easy and is right at her budget mark per person, which includes everything from the venue, food, bar, parking, tables, chairs, rudimentary decor, etc! The only thing she'd have to add in is all the other personal things, like flowers, attire, officiant, photographer.. but Calamigos handles so much that I'm sure it would take the stress off. They're probably quite booked through the summer, but I'm sure they have a few days here and there that would fit her!

Best of luck to your friend!

I may be biased as well because my mother is employed at the university. But she may want to consider Kellogg House Pomona (Its located at Cal Poly Pomona!). The venue is the former summer house of W.K. Kellogg, it can receive 150-200 guests max. Packages are pretty inexpensive too they start at $40 per person and include food, alcohol, cake, tables, chairs, linens etc. Granted she would have to provide an officiant, photographers, florist, et all but KHP have great referrals with trusted vendors. I can vouch for the overall quality and they're willing to work with you to make your ideas/budget come to fruition. Its a unique location worth checking out. I'm thinking about holding my reception here next summer.

My venue (The Grand in Long Beach) has a few different rooms, so you'd probably be able to find some availability, especially on a Friday or Sunday. Definitely within the price range.

You can use me (Brianne Gibson) as a referral too. Viviana is our contact and she's very quick to respond.

Thank you so much ladies! I passed this info along to the bride and will totally let you all know if she chooses one of these venues! I'm really pulling for her to have a non-stressful planning experience... she's got a lot on her plate now :(

I second Kellogg House - the students there are also extremely professional and it's a pretty location.  One of my colleagues got married at the UCLA faculty house and I think it was ~$100/head.  I <3 the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica but have no idea how much it costs to rent.  Also, in the IE there's the Mitten House in Redlands which I believe is really affordable.
