I have terrible handwriting so for me, it wasn't just about the saved time (but also them looking halfway decent). I didn't use labels though - I did an envelope merge and printed the addresses directly on the envelopes in a calligraphy font.
I do use labels for Christmas cards though - once they're set up, I save them and reuse the label document each year (adding new names/addresses, deleting old names/addresses as needed). That saves a TON of time.
yeah, for me it wasn't about the time saving it was about looks. i love to do graphic design and wanted labels because i could make them pretty and put some of my fonts to use.
I reuse my Christmas labels each year, just like milesbella I make any additions/subtractions and address updates and then I hit print! Easy peasy!
If I'm feeling really motivated I'll add a design or tweak the font but most years it's just update and print!
I hadn't thought about subsequent years.... ohhh, good points, bees!
Maybe labels it is... I was kind of leaning away from them, because I really like the way handwriting looks.... but you may be convincing me.
Any favorite fonts or design ideas that I could easily upload??
I think it saves a ton of time. For me, I created my guest list with the thought that I would use it to create labels when the time came. And actually, I ended up printing right on the envelopes as well. It took about a second to print out each envelope and would take me at least a minute to write them out otherwise. Tons of time savings. Plus, as others mentioned, you can reuse them as necessary.
I really wish that after I took the time to print labels for wedding invites that I had actually saved them!! I could of used them for thank you's and then at Christmas.
I think the first time doing labels probably doesn't save time, but if you save them it would be quick to add/delete names and hit print.

I'm thinking about this in terms of Christmas cards - but I think it also applies to wedding invitations. I don't think a ton of time is saved printing labels (formatting, etc.) than there is in handwriting envelopes.
I guess I'm asking the question too. I handwrote my wedding evelopes, but am thinking about using labels for Christmas cards... but then it struck me - how much time does that REALLY save?
Thoughts??
