I would definitely write the addresses by hand. I read in a blog or another thread somewhere that some people thought it was just another piece of junk mail and almost threw it out, but noticed the hand writted address, so they actually looked at it. I don't know if this actually happened or not, but I'm going to write mine by hand :)
Yeahhhh, you probably have to write them. And that is a good point about junk mail...I get tons of postcard-type junkmail and I might just throw it out!
BTW, I think we're doing postcards too and I'm totally dreading writing all those names and addresses (FI's handwriting is horrific)
My printer has a 4x6 photo slot and I'm planning 4x6 postcards. My idea at the moment is to print them on the computer ;-) Like I said though, at the moment...
Does anyone know the USPS guidelines for what color you can write the address in? The address portion of my postcard is white - I'm hoping I can use colored ink and not black!
I printed address labels for our STD on clear address labels and used a fancy font. It turned out really well and no one seemed to mind or even thought it was junk mail! Besides it saved a lot of time and they are just STDs and not the formal invitation. So I say, do it!
I did mine on address labels and it looked really good... it had our picture on it and fancy writing and did not look like junk mail.
I was afraid my postcard would be mistaken for junk mail, so I opted for envelopes (since the postage would be minimal and the envelopes only cost me $5 for 100). I'm hand addressing all of them. I sort of cheated though and am tracing the addresses.
flamingred: Check out my Save the date postcards http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/our-save-the-dates-3
I used the address label (2x4) for the Save the date info and just hand wrote the addresses of where they were going.
Good luck

So is it totally gauche to print address lables for my not-so-formal save-the-date postcards? I sort of think it is, but I just wanted some other opinions.
