I think it depends a lot on where you live. Calendar wise it seems like it's fall but since I've moved to Columbia, it's still extremely hot most of the time on labor day so it still feels like summer.
Absolutely it depends on where you live/where the wedding will be. Here in Texas it is still FIRE HOT in September. Sometimes triple digits! I'd say that is Summer Summer Summer!!
Labor Day is definitely still summer. It's usually still quite hot where I am (Virginia) and like you said, fall doesn't officially start until late September. I know most places are different, but in Virginia school doesn't even start until the day after Labor Day so it's definitely still summer to me!
I live in Virginia too and would definitely consider Labor Day weekend summer
First day of Fall is technically Sept 21. My birthday is usually on labour day weekend, and me and my friends have always considered it the last weekend of Summer. Fall starts Tuesday :)
I associate it with fall since kids are going back to school and my work mostly deals with high school students, but I think it can really be whatever you want.
I agree with it being dependent of where you live. I got married on labor day weekend 2010. We had the wedding outside and used short BM dresses heels and had fans for the programs in case it was hot, but actually it ended up being a beautiful night in the 70's. I think you could go with anything in terms of length of dresses. I would avoid color schemes that are too summery.
the weather varies that time of month, but I personally always felt like Labor Day Weekend was the last weekend of summer. That's generally the last weekend for all the amusement parks and such too.
I am getting married Labor Day Weekend as well and I'm considering it Late Summer but not quite fall. Because it was September I had to abandon some of the more summery color schemes that I thought might seem out of place if for some reason the weather is chilly.
I associate Labor Day with the end of summer. I've lived in NJ and MD and it was always hot. Labor Day means beach and bbqs to me.
I'm getting married that weekend as well, and I do consider the "end" of summer, but in New England it can be somewhat cool sometimes so it is also the beginning of fall. We are having our wedding in Maine, which is even cooler than where we are, so we're leaning towards fall. Our colors and dresses were designed around the venue rather than the time of year, and I'll be having both flip flops and pashminas for guests just in case. :)
I'm getting married that weekend too in Livermore, CA and it's crazy hot there! So definitely thinking of it as a summer wedding!
