I have a strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline (which will probably end up being raised up a little bit) and would really like to have a lace bolero or some sort of detachable straps to make a different look for the ceremony and reception. Though I love the dress, I really didn’t want strapless, so I think that is why I am dead set on adding something to the top.
I ordered this lace bolero jacket and I think it is a decent match and it was a very good price and good quality (http://www.tulipbridal.com). However, I just saw this detachable strap option on Etsy, which is a style that I haven’t seen before.
My questions are:
1) do you think this bolero coordinates with my dress or do you think it distracts from the rest of the dress?
2) do you think the other detachable strap option would be a more unique and/or flattering option?
Any opinions would be great, because the only bad thing about Tulip Bridal is that they have a very short window of time for the return policy!

@frenchiemom: Will your budget accomodate both?
I love the jacket- the scallop on the bottom edge echoes the scalloped lace on your dress. I think it would be perfect to wear for the ceremony, then take the jacket off and add the detachable straps for the reception.

@julies1949: +1 my thoughts exactly!
I love both options on you OP

I’m not a huge fan of the jacket, but I think it would be a nice, conservative option for the ceremony. I looove the straps though! You could do both – one for the ceremony, one for the reception (as has been mentioned) since you are opposed to strapless. 🙂

Thanks, ladies:) I don’t know why I didn’t think of just doing both…but keep the opinions coming, because I still need to decide on this particular jacket!

@frenchiemom We actually have similar taste I think.
Usually I see posts for bolero’s because brides want to hide their arms because they are worried about how they look, but I think they just look elegant. Very Grace Kelly. Actually I asked my bridal salon about one and she said “why do you want that?” haha
I’m curious, how does the bolero look tucked into the dress? I ordered a embroidered lace boat neck bolero and i’m thinking of tucking it in if it looks good.
I LOVE the straps, especially the view from the back. Sometimes adding a bit more fabric looks sexier than just skin.
