I've been doing spray adhesive on mason jars (with tealights) and it's been fine - but it sounds like my container is bigger/light is smaller.
@metalbride: try modge podge or elmers glue and water...or you could use the flameless candles, spray adhesive will mostlikely melt too. ohter wise try a higher temp glue for your glue gun.
What about glue dots? They come in different szes and are pretty sticky.

So I have begun covering a few votives with lace. im going for the completley covered look. I have a low temp glue gun. I did a sample last night and after about an hour the glue got hot, softened up again and the lace slid. any pointer? I am going to try the spary adhesive tonight but it seems like it may get messy. Thanks for any advice for this complete DIY gal.
