I have an a-line lace strapless gown w/ tulle bodice. Can i wear a sash around my waist, or will it just take away from dress. If i can, any suggestions? Something w/ silk or organza flowers on satin ribbin, or something more ornate, flat w/ pearl applicque, or rhinestones? Any oppions would greatly help. I see so many that are pretty, but my dress shop did nothave any to try on w/ the gown, so i was thinking of orderinigon-line from Etsy…but there are 100’s to choose from.

Honestly, I wouldn’t add one.

I wouldnt add a sash – I think it will look a bit off/unbalanced with how far down the tulle portion comes down. It is such a pretty detail I dont think you would want to take away from that. Is there a reason for adding a sash – to define your waist or add more sparkle or??

I’d have to see it on there to know for sure but the way the top is made seems like it might look better without.

Normally I am all for a sash but I think it would take away from your dress.

I agree with PP’s, the detail on the bodice would be overshadowed if there were a sash.

I would not add one because of the way the dress detail directly under the bust. The dress just doesn’t seem cut for a sash.

What kind of sash? If you were really set on one you could probably get away with a thin glittery one but otherwise i would go without one and accesorise else where. Wear some really pretty long earrings or something, or a pretty bracelet.

BTW your dress is beautiful 🙂 Love the lace detail

I agree with PPs I wouldn’t add a sash as it will take away from the detail, it would look off with the detail on the bust. Beautiful dress.

Thank you everyone – I saw a few sashes w/ pearls, and silk organza flowers that i thought were so pretty, that tie in the back w/ a long ribbon. I guess i was trying to see if i could make it work, but the way the dress comes down in the waist, i think you are all right – would be too much! Thank you for your advice!!

I’d say no. The detailing under the bust makes this dress a dress not meant to be worn with a sash. Plus it’s lovely as is.

I thnk that because the neckline detail covers some of your upper torso area, a sash would make it seem off balance, or out of proportion. does that make sense? lol
