In a recent episode of 'Say Yes to The Dress' a bride-to-be who absolutely LOVES lace brought along a friend who absolutely HATES it. Got me thinking...which opinion is more common when it comes to wedding gowns?

Bees, share your thoughts! Lace. love it or hate it??

I don't love it or hate it. Most of the time I prefer lace as an accent and dislike all lace dresses but there have been a few exceptions when the lace made me want to swoon.

I don't really like lace. It works for some people. But I find it too antiquey in any detail, I perfer more modern looks, and I prefer satin over all other types of fabrics for wedding dresses.

I love lace and was looking only at lace dresses for a while.  Ironically, I ended up with a silk organza ruffled dress!

Lace was one of my no-nos when I went dress shopping. I didn't want any lace on my dress at all, not even a little. It's not that I don't like it; the previous year, about 10 of my friends got married, and all of the brides wore lace dresses. They were lovely, but I felt like I was very over lace after that. I decided on a very different look for my own wedding dress, and I'm glad I went that direction. But I definitely don't hate lace. And like secondchances, I generally perfer it as an accent.

Was this SYTTD Atl? That guy was RUDE.

I love lace. I didn't end up with a lace dress, but I think the look itself is very classic and gorgeous.

I LOVE lace. I think it's super pretty and romantic. With that being said, my dress has zero lace on it - haha.

Love it!!! I personally dislike shiny satin dresses or beading and crystals so lace was perfect for me.

I'm unfortunately not one of the lace fans! I think it looks beautiful on some dresses and some brides rock the lace look. It's just not my cup of tea and historically I've never really gravitated towards lace clothing. I think hate is too strong a word though. I just wouldn't want a wedding dress with any lace accents.

    Love lace.

Particularly after watching SYTTD with my FI, an all lace dress without ruching was what I wanted.

I love lace! I originally thought that's what I wanted in a dress. When I went to try on dresses, I was surprised that I didn't like lace on me. But I think it's beautiful and romantic.

I'm not a lace girl but that's because when I think of lace I think of someone really girly, and I am not! I think it is a personality thing. Does it fit you as a person. I've seen some very beautiful lace dresses, they just don't speak to me. If they speak to you then start a conversation!

I loooove lace. I love lacey stuff in general, so it seems only fitting that the dresses I'm gravitating toward have a lot/all over lace!

I love lace. Originally I went to every store in town and tried on every dress but lace ones. I'm going on another dress shopping trip to all those stores to try on lace gowns. I've tried on a few and have found the ldec dresses are the only ones that make me feel like a bride. I've worn lots of fancy dresses and even some bridal gowns for different events and so my bridal experience is a little different. One thing I've never worn is lace and that's cause ive saved it for my wedding day. I'm excited. I hope I actually find my dream gown today.

Ps. Sorry for the ramble. I'm kind of excited and nervous and talk a lot when that happens.

well, love and hate are both strong words.  my opinion falls in a sort of grey area...it really depends on the lace and how it's presented/used.

I LOVE lace dresses. However, that being said, I think lace can either look great or awful depending on the quality and style of the lace. So, I think that while I love lace, it is also a material that you have to be very careful and picky with in order to get a nice lace dress.

I love lace dresses...I haven't known anyone to get married in lace (everyone has worn satin) so to me it's unique.

I don't feel it's fair to vote... because while I hate lace dresses on ME, I can love and appreciate them on other people, especially if that's what the bride wanted. :)

I really love lace, but I alost always love it as more of an accent to a dress. That said, lace is so elegant and feminine, it is hard to find it on a dress in a way that I don't like it!

Hate it... on me. But that particular girl looked great. Just because the gay dude can't be in a dress he felt still like the dress should be his. I'm glad he lost.

I love lace. I was adamant that I would not buy a lace-free dress- I actually only tried one dress on that had no lace, and my whole entourage was like "ew no take it off please it's not you."  Haha.

That said, lace is not for everyone.  I think if you have more modern taste, it's not going to be your thing so much.  And there are so many gorgeous dresses out there, there's absolutely one to suit every taste.

Oddly enough, the one dress other than my own I still swoon over when I see it in pics on other brides is entirely and completely lace-free (it's an all-satin number, which was the polar opposite of what I wanted).

@LeClere61513:  Oh god, was it that pretty blonde from NC at Bridal by Lori in ATL? I just saw that episode and I was really appalled by her GBFF.  He was borderline rude and I felt bad for her!

Related: I love lace.  My dress is lace.  It is timeless, classic, romantic....I think it's one of the only wedding dress materials that really can flawlessly withstand the test of time.

@LeClere61513:  I LOVE LOVE LOVE beyond LOVE lace. Actually, it's the only type of dress I have tried on. I personally wouldn't bring any friends with me, I'm only bringing my mom because she will honestly tell me if it flatters me. I would never trust a friend to ask them their opinion about my gown because 1... I don't care... haha, and 2. I am very into fashion and am confident in my style.

Get a lace dress!!! It is so classy and elegant... especially alencon lace <333 ughh!

I love lace and always thought I'd have an all lace dress, until the last few years when every single person ever has had an all lace gown. I don't want my dress to be like everyone else's. I think it's just been overdone.

I have to agree. I absolutely LOVE lace. Hands down. However, I only like it for a mermaid/fit-to-flare/trumpet or simple gown. I really do not care for it on any type of ball gown, not even accents.

I'm still searching for that perfect lace fit-to-flare myself. Every time a see a picture of one it takes my breath away!

@jdunn17:  Marisa makes some AMAZING lace fit-and-flares and trumpets.  She doesn't advertise, though, so you might have a hard time finding pictures to look through online.  If I ahdn't found the one I bought at Prisciall of Boston before they announced their closing and closed, I would've gotten a Marisa.
