you might be able to find a lace pattern on istockphotos.com and use that to help you with your motif and get the pattern letterpressed to give you that nice clean look.
it might be a bit time consuming but how about cutting strips of paper lace doilies and using them as an edge for your cards, or another option is using a craft punch. martha stewart has two lace pattern punches. i'm using one as a edge for my place cards.

I want to make my own invitations but I am not experienced. I am not interested in the vellum and ribbon, I want a more sophisticated look. I want to do a lace and garden theme, but how can I incorporate this. Should I bag the idea? There was a really cool border punch from martha stewart that was called doilie (sp?) My colors are pale yellow and white. Any suggestions, oh and I don't want to spend a lot of money.
