So I have a half marathon coming up in a month, this ain’t my first rodeo but this time out I think the long winter has done a number on me. I have been into weight training and have had some really great runs, including a SPD race which went better than expected, but ugh… I just want to sleep in the morning! I workout in the am so I can spend nights with Fiance.
Any advices, memes, motivational photos? 🙂

@mrs_pudding_pop: Wow 4.5 miles is great! I agree the weather has me down too! I switched to working out after work and now my Darling Husband comes with me. We are only there an hour, but it’s much nicer to sleep in 🙂

“Running is a big question mark that’s there each and every day. It asks you, ‘Are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?'”
– Peter Maher, Canadian marathon runner
“The miracle isn’t that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start.”
“Whether you believe you can or believe you can’t, you’re probably right.”
“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss it you will land among the stars.”
“No one ever drowned in sweat.”
This one is probably my favorite running quote:
“If you run, you are a runner. It doesn’t matter how fast or how far. It doesn’t matter if today is your first day or if you’ve been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run.”

YOU CAN DO IT! 4.5 miles this morning is awesome!!
What about working out during lunch? I do about 30 minutes a day during my lunch hour, then jump in for a quick rinse off in the shower and then drive back to work. It makes you work really hard those 30 minutes since that’s all you have (I’d say my 30 min. work outs are better than when I was doing an hour, lazily). Plus, you go back feeling refreshed for the afternoon.

I have no advice, but I’m right there with ya, lady! I ran a marathon in January and I have bene in a SLUMP ever since. No motivation it seems. Couple that with a knee injury post marathon that still flares up and just getting off a 15 day cold and my 17.75k race (~11 miles) on Saturday is going to be a DISASTER.
I’m blaming the slump and lack of motivation on the winter weather. So hopefully when it warms up I won’t have to be making deals with myself to get out there and do something I love?

@RoyalLime: I work out in the morning due to Fiance and I getting to bed earlier (he gets up super early for work so the more time in the evenings we have together, the better). That’s great you guys do it together! I love it when Fiance comes to the gym with me. 🙂 So over winter and ready for outdoor runs!
@danelady: Those are awesome, love the 2nd to last one!! LOL
@sweetchiquita12: 1/2 is 13.1 and it’s a month from TODAY. TODAY – yikes! But I just did a 17k Sunday and didn’t die so I guess I’ll be ok.
@MadTownGirl: I have never been a work out in the middle of the day type girl – I need to do it before or after work. That’s awesome you can get it and kick butt! 🙂
@msamandaann: Achk! Winter has done a number on me this year. I am telling myself after this year, no training for halfs, etc unless they are fall races. The winter this year has just been too harsh and most of my running has been on the treadmill. Yuck! Hope your knee gets better!
Tomorrow I have to do 3.5 plus strength. I had asked Fiance to wake me up before he went to work so that helped a lot.
