    Hi future prego-Bees,

My DH and I are going to being TTC at the start of the new year (only 4 months from now...wow!). We are extremely excited (although he is very laid-back...and me? i'll probably be buying the PT in bulk). To prep for it though I am getting off of my hormonal b/c now (the patch). I have heard from doctors that it takes months for the cycle to regulate after being on B/C for so long so I just want to make sure i'm good to go and have a solid chance once the new year rolls along.Has anyone else done this before actually TTC?

Please share your stories! I just want some input from my lovely Bee friends because my husband and I are the only TTC couple in our circle of friends! So, I have no one else to share my TTC situation with:(

*We will be using condoms for the next 4 months instead and I will be taking Chaste Berry vitamins, which regular periods so that ovulation can be tracked. Also: I keep telling myself: I will NOT check pregnancy until at least 10dp missed period. I hope...

    Additional Info:

    ChasteBerry Vitamin:

HOW IT WORKS: "Chasteberry seems to make a woman's corpus luteum function better. The corpus luteum secretes progesterone, a hormone that thickens the uterine lining, making implantation of a fertilized egg easier. In addition, the amino acid in it, L-arginine, improves circulation to the reproductive organs."

Hey there!!! :-) I got off the pill (last month I took them) in April. I'm not regular still but I think they're starting to get better (I think...?haha). They've gone from 24-30 days. We haven't been using any other sort of contraception at all but we've not really tried to put too much pressure on ourselves. We still want to have fun when we have sex, not just think of it as a means to an end...you know? So hopefully we'll get there before too long, I'm so ready to be a mommy!!!

I went off the pill a year before we started trying. I highly recommend going off sooner than later so I think you're doing the right thing. It took my body months to get my first period off BC, and even a year later it hadn't resumed normalcy. And my cycles were pretty regular before I ever went on the pill. It's different for everyone, though.. some women have no trouble getting back to normal at all.

    Good luck!

@KansasPrincess11: Yay! Were basically in the same boat:) No more B/C....

Can I ask you ladies a personal question?

    TMI ALERT:

Is your sex drive better? I think the patch squashed mine...Because when were engaged and using condoms....I was ...ahem, like a rabbit. And now it's much less.

That's another plus I am hoping for with getting off my current B/C.

@LoveliestLove: Oh please--no TMI disclaimer needed w/me ;-) My sex drive SKYROCKETED. Like to the point that DH said he was going to put me back on the pill just so he could take me back OFF the pill. Haha!! It didn't last forever though, granted I do have a higher sex drive than before, but not the crazy-monkey-want to come home for a nooner sex drive ;-)

@AvantLaLettre: That's good to know that I'm not the only one who's yo-yoed around!

@LoveliestLove: It is a lot of fun though, I must admit :-) That's why we're trying not to focus on the fact that we aren't pregnant, if we get to the 1 year mark and we aren't pregnant yet, then we'll look more seriously into some of the ovulation kits and whatnot, but we really don't want to put that much pressure on ourselves right now. Just have lots and lots of fun int he meantime ;)

I was on the patch too. We are currently on our second cycle of TTC. My first cycle post-BC was 42 days long. I was always, always, 28 days. I had a lot of weird symptoms ie. cramping, fatigue, bloated, headache-y for most of those 42 days. This cycle has been a LOT better and currently at day 24 and no signs of AF. Actually, no real symptoms at all. Point of all of this is, be aware of all the symptoms of coming off the patch. It's a rough go, but it does get better!! I think it's a fab idea to rip that patch off sooner than later. Good luck :)

@Lindsay05: 42 DAYS?! I thought my 30 day cycle was bad :( Yikes!

My pms and cramps and whatnot are definitely worse than before, so there's a downside, haha

@LoveliestLove: Lindsay05 is right--I seriously thought I was pregnant when I had my 30 day cycle. I was convinced. It's so hard to not put too much excitement on that two week wait.

Haha! Also--I think we'll have to start making a list of all of the abbreviations the ladies use. I think TWW and OPK are the only ones I know! HAHA!

@KansasPrincess11: Yes it was AWFUL!! It got to the point where I was happy to see AF which is pretty bad!

@LoveliestLove: Yeah I tested about 4 times! How could I not?? And def finish off the cycle.

I've been charting for years, and just had my first cycle TTC #2 (#1 for him) and we didn't get pregnant this cycle.  I still have AF.   We did perfect timing, OPKs and charting.  I even had a long LP, 13 days between ovulation and my period, which was unheard of for me and had me thinking I was pregnant.   I'm hoping the second time is a chart, my son was a lucky first cycle baby.

I did chasteberry supplements (vitex) when I was having crazy cycles and it made them worse.  All I needed was a vitamin B complex to turn things around.  I've heard good things about maca root too.

@MapleBecky: Wow! 1st cycle babies are sooo lucky! One of the girls I mentioned who is PG got PG both the first time with their son (my Godson:) and now the baby they're having. SO jealous! :) Here's hoping that you won't have to wait very much longer!

I'm also newly TTC.  The last month I took the pill was May.  We used protection in June, then started trying in July.  We didn't get pregnant, so we're hoping cycle#2 of trying is our lucky charm.  I am a school teacher, so I'd REALLY like my pregnancy to work WITH my school year.  Ideally, I'd love to get prego this month, so I can take the last two months off of school AND have the two summer months off before having to head back to school at the end of next August.

After going off the pill, my cycle went right back to normal.  The only difference was MUCH worse cramping and headaches than when I was on the pill.  I've also been much more bloated, as well.  Because of these changes, I was totally conviced I was pregnant last month, but no luck.  Fingers crossed that this is our month!

@bunnylovesbear: Oh my bloating has been AWFUL as well! I actually couldn't fit into a pair of pants this past cycle. Ugh. Awful. I really hope you get PG this month so your plan works out!!! I wish I could plan something like that ;-)

Yeah, the bloating is AWFUL!  Sooo uncomfortable after I eat anything....glad I'm not the only one it's happening to!  And thank you!  If I get pregnant this month, it will be like getting two extra paid months of maternity time!  fingers crossed!!

@bunnylovesbear: :-) I knew I should have stuck with education as my major! ;-)

I've been looking up tutorials about how to make quilts, I'm going to make baby blankets for my girlfriends kiddos :-D My mom's present to me for graduation/Christmas (I graduated in December) was a sewing machine.

@bunnylovesbear: Another addition to the TTC family:) Welcome...& good luck.

I think it's a great idea to have the baby in the spring...I am planning mine around the new year so I can have time of too.

But now that I think about it I'll be really paranoid to take baby out on the snowy roads....

Kansas-I wish I had a sewing machine...I don't know how to sew but i'd learn!

We've been TTC since January, and REALLY REALLY TTC since May, before the wedding. I'm taking prenatal vitamins as well as Metformin (PCOS) and Vitex (Chasteberry) because my cycles are irregular and I have ovulation issues.

I started charting BBT and CM a few years ago (again, for my own knowledge/PCOS) and I've kept that up, though I have to admit, it's not THAT helpful for ME. Worth giving it a go, though!

I'm also trying to be healthy and lower my weight, because that's supposed to help too - but so far, no luck. Sending love and baby thoughts your way, when the timing is right!

    Hi ladies,

I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I was a bit of a "lurker" over on the wedding boards last year when I was planning ours, and thought I'd officially join now that we are TTC! Good luck to everyone :)

@jaguar: Yeah charting never helped for me because I was and still am irregular...So, I plan on just b'din every other day or so & praying that it works...at least for the first month or so....after that it's like....ooook...come on!

But yes, like you i'll be having prenatals and chaste berry:) How do you like it btw? I heard it gets you way off for the first 2 months but then regulates beautifully

@seagull: WELCOME!!! YAY! I am so glad you're here:) TTC is fun yet stressful...and private. So, it's nice to talk to the Bee about it sometimes or...forget talkin...vent!

I've heard good/bad reviews on Vitex, but I'm giving it a chance, as I've heard it can take up to three months to stabilise in your body.

My second to last cycle was 72 days. Last cycle was 40 days. This cycle: yet TBD. ;)

But I figure... it can't hurt? That's the way I see it, anyway. Also, the prenatals appear to have done AMAZING things for my regularly awful nails. :)

@LoveliestLove:  Vitamin B is great for your luteal phase, it gives it a longer stretch, you need 10 days minimum for an embryo to implant for a pregnancy to take.  Mine was stretched from 8 days to 13!    It also shortened my 40 day cycles to 10 day cycles.  I learned about it on a fertility board I post at.

http://www.ehow.com/how_2337620_use-vitamin-b-improve-fertility.html  (Just a quick google search)

@LoveliestLove: Thanks LoveliestLove! It will be nice to have an outlet, for the good and bad! There were lots of people to talk when I was wedding planning (since everyone wanted to be involved anyway!), but we aren't telling anyone except a couple of very close friends that we are trying until there is happy news to share! Thanks for the warm welcome :)

Hi ladies!  I'm not quite TTC just yet but will be very soon!  I'm ready now but DH would like to enjoy a few months of being newly married before we start thinking about babies so we'll probably be starting either at the end of this year or just after the start of the new year.   I must say though, I have the worst case of baby fever....and considering I am nearly 32 and all of my friends have kids, it's no wonder really.

I went of all BC in Jan 2010 and whilst it took a while to get back on track with my cycle, I think it's pretty 'normal' now, normal being anywhere between 35 and 45 days!  I must say though, I am really enjoying being hormone free, although PMS symptoms can be a bit of a nightmare at times, but other than that, it's nice to track the changes in my body and hope everything is doing what it's supposed to.

I've been taking a multivitamin daily and have also been eating cereals fortified with folic acid.  I may add a folic acid supplement in there as well as I know the excess is safely eliminated without any negative side effects, but I may just stick with what I'm doing for right now.  Other than that, I'm just trying to increase my exercise a bit more so I can continue with that exercise regime whilst pregnant.

It's going to be fun to follow everyone's journey.  I'm already a lurker on the baby boards and have been patiently (or not so patiently) waiting until I could join in!  :-)

We got married in March and we're not TTC yet, but we've spent A LOT of time talking about it this summer.  We got married at 30, so we don't want to put a family off for too long.  But doesn't it feel like so much to learn about all of the sudden??  I feel like I've been on a crash course!

We got married in August of last year. We've decided to start trying in the new year. I was on BC pills for about 15 years and stopped last October and had a copper IUD put it. It took a few months for my cycles to become regular again. They are about 35 days long. For the last 6 months, I've been charting and have when I ovulate nailed down! When we get back from our Cuban holiday at the end of Jan, the IUD will come out and we'll start trying.
