Hello date twin :-) We are getting married on the same date, but one year apart!
I am a size 12 on top and your dress is similar in style to mine. I love my gown and everyone that has seen it on me loves it too.
It is a Justin Alexander 8137
Here it is:
You are wise ask to see pictures of real brides!
Looking at pictures of models warped my perception and made me feel like I was too fat to be a beautiful bride (and I normally have a pretty healthy body image!).
Here's a picture of me in mine, unaltered. I'm standing on a stool.
I'm going to get fabric in the bust to cover the girls up.
Hello! :) I am a street size 16 and so is my dress. Here is a picture of me in my Davids Bridal dress. Its for sale if you are interested... :) I know it would be a little big but you could always alter it :)
I was not in love with my dress at first. But when i put it on with my hair and makeup and jewelry...it was PERFECT. i could not have asked for a better dress. I love her :)
Here is mine. I just got it! It is Dominique by Maggie Sottero in silver mist. I am a street size 16 typically for reference:-)
I also love Alfred Angelo dresses and ended up getting the dress that I fell inlove with, style 2119 in diamond white.
Here is model pics and pic of me in the dress, but pic quality isnt that good because it was taken with cell. (the sample dress I tried on was size 8 which was too big for me. I wear size 1 or 2)
@ritzyflapper-- if you dont mind me asking, what size did you order? It looks like we have similar body types and I am waiting on my maggie afraid it will be too small!!! I usually wear sz 14 in most things, ordered a size 16 dress. Hope it fits yikes!!
This is the first time I'm showing my dress :) I"m wearing Casablanca 1938 without the flower. Unfortunately, in my excitement to find it in at the store I never got a picture of mysef in it... but here's one from their website!
@Ka393:I really like your dress, it looks so great on you!
Here is mine, the designer is Amsale. i plan on wearing a black sash around my waistline. It is nothing like I thought I wanted. I wanted a trumpet style with a bubble hem, my inspiration dress is the 2nd dress posted.

I'm a street size 16 and found a very flattering dress. The key is to know your body and what works on it so you don't get too frustrated trying on things that won't flatter you. For example, I'm a apple-shaped gal (carry all my weight in the middle) so I knew sheaths, mermaid, and trumpet were no-nos. Kept them out of my dressing rooms from the word go and I have a much better experience.
For reference, here is a picture of me in my dress. That's the sample which was a size 14 so it's kin of clipped and then being held in the back for the picture. But you get the gist.
Let me start by saying how JEALOUS I am of all of you ladies with curves! You don't even know how many dresses I tried on that looked god-awful on me because of my boy shape. Miss Mitzie, I think your going to find its easier to find a flattering gown because you have stuff to work with! When you have nothing you get nothing :-] Anywho...
After my first shopping trip, I knew I wanted lace. I also thought I wanted a Maggie Sottero because her designs were so beautiful online, but in real life, they really fell flat :-[. Here is my winner, the Enzoani Cheyenne:

heres my dress at its second last alteration.. finally getting there!!!! its demetrios and i had it altered into a sweetheart neckline. Im holding it up because it needs the hem taken up :) oh btw im a size 12 australian street size, which means its a size 10 us? im not sure of the conversion.

i<3dress posts. i'm a street size 0, ordered a 2 in the dress, gettin a lil taken in on the hips, bustle added. goign BRALESSSS :O, cuz the dress has built in cups... and no hemming, i'm almost 5'8" and the lenght was just enough after i put on my 3.25 inch heels :)
demetrios - la sposa collection 4265
Here is my dress! I also don't have a pic of me in the dress (yet!). I'm a petite girl (usually a street size 2) if you cut like a 8 inches off the model you get the picture -lol! We'll have to do some alterations but it's all good!!
Dress shopping can be stresseful (but fun, too). Hang in there -- you'll find "the one".
Here's my dress after my first fitting. For reference, I am a size 14 street size. I think you should think about what types of clothing look best on you in real life and try to transfer that to wedding dresses. I am an hour glass shape so I knew that I needed a dress that accentuated my waist. My A line bridal gown did this best and shows off my curves.
Also, be open to trying on styles you are not sure about. You may be pleasantly surprised with which types of wedding dresses look best on you and find something you were not expecting!
Mine is Alfred Angelo and its an 18. They are very comfortable and forgiving.

This is mine, I go for my first fitting in a couple weeks, no pictures of me in it yet!
I'm small (2? 4? not sure) and have the good fortune of being slender and curvy...unlike this hungry dress model, haha. I chose a figure flattering mermaid. Blue by Enzoani's Casablanca, ordered in a size six so I could move comfortably. No pics of me in it yet, it's on order. :(

@FutureMrsSmith: I am typicalIy street size 16so on a consultants suggestion I got a size 20 because they assured me you can take a dress in up to two sizes safely and it was better to have it too big then too small. However I wish I would have ignored that and just ordered only one size up because with the sides laced as tight as it will go it is still somewhat loose. I am just going to have to have a seamstress fix it for me. So If you are a 14 I think you will be just fine with a 16. Should fit you perfectly in fact.
Here is mine. One more fitting in early October. I LOVE IT!!!!!!

Hello -- I agree with an earlier poster about translating what looks good on you in regular clothes into the wedding dress! I am probably a size 12, with more of an hourglass shape -- big boobs, smaller waist, big butt. I look good in things that show off my decolletage and hit me at my smallest point, which is probably just under the bust (which is why an empire waist seems to work well on me). My dress is the WTOO Isadora -- it's a size 14 and has needed very little altering, although the bust needed a couple of darts and the butt-area needed to be let out a little. Anyway, I feel great in the dress. Don't stress about dieting, etc. I thought I would lose a little weight, but haven't, but I think I will look great anyway. Just a few days left!
Here is my dress. I cut out my face and back because I looked hideous. It is when I tried it on for the family this weekend in a very warm room. Blech, I was a sweaty mess.
Anyway mine is a DaVinci which I think is a knock off. BUt it is about 5 years old. (It is brand new though) I wanted something with some color on it but not like anyone else's. So I have this. I'm about a 14/16 but with the corset back you can go up or down one size. THe corset isn't as tight as I wanted and we forgot to hook the inner "belt" to make it tighter. So my waist will be cinched a bit more.
Also I need to get a can-can to fill it out in the front and have it hemmed up.
You get the picture. ha ha pun intended!
@shannon1126: Oh thank you! I cant wait to take better pics when my dress arrives! Also I LOVE your dress, Amsale designs are beautiful..I like how she keeps it simple and elegant.
@jaglynn17: I dont think so , but you can ask Alfred Angelo store/or check their site or their discussion board on facebook. It would be nice to have in tulle , I was thinking of a tulle dress my self but I think silk tafetta would be better for a spring wedding in IL...will be cold for me lol.
@jaylii9:gorgeous!!!! I love lace dresses with sleeves. Do you mind me asking what designer/store your dress came from? I'm a size 16 and am scared I won't be able to find a lace dress that would look good on me
@Pinot Noir: My dress is Watters Harmony (5044b). I think this dress is great for a curvier girl because it is a fitted A line. The front is very low cut, but my seamstress took care of that right away during my first fitting. If you look closely you can see that the front is majorly pinned together :)
A lace dress was all I wanted! Here are some designers in the less than $2,000 range that I looked at:
-Watters, WTOO---Lots of lace styles
-Maggie Sottero- Pretty dresses, I never liked the lace up back. Personal preference.
-Allure
- Jasmine Bridal
Good luck!
Here's mine - Galina for DB. I'm a street size 14 and the dress is a 16.

Here's mine - Summer by Maggie Sottero. I'm a street size and dress size 10 for reference.
@Pinot noir - if you like lace dresses with sleeves, how about this beauty? It's by Enzoani. I'm sure it would look beautiful on you. I'm wearing a Blue by Enzoani dress called Cheyenne (same as SDBornWed, just a in a bigger size....). I found their dresses to be very very structured and flattering.
Thanks ladies for the pics, and the support, you all look stunning!

Recently a friend and I went dress "browsing" and of course I tried on some dresses. That day we only went to DB and I was really uninspired by the dresses. I put them thinking "ok this will be the one" only to feel really fat, or really plain, or waaayyyy to much.... Sigh I was so dissapointed. I have been looking online a lot to get a better idea of what I might like and I am in love with this dress by Alfred Angelo, but being a street size 14 not to sure what it would look like on me. I have started dieting and will most likely lose some weight before I buy my dress, but I would love to see pictures of real brides of all sizes.
P.S. I would just like to say to all of you in advance, thank you, and you look beautiful!! :)
