What Month did you get married? and what state? Michigan in June.

Did the weather hold up nicely? Yes (Thank God)! It was raining the entire week except the day of my wedding!

What did you do about rain possibilites? Hoped for the best…

What did you do about lighting and music? We used a cd player and it was on the daytime so no need for extra lighting.

Did you use tents? Yes, we had a tent for the reception, but not for the ceremony.

and also what did you do for a dance floor? (if you had one, that is) Yes, we rented a small one. Only the wedding party danced.

We had an outdoor wedding in Texas in September – not once did I think about the weather before making decisions. It was loooovely – 80ish degrees or so. And the  next day? 100. We lucked out!

We were in the middle of a burn ban so any chance of rain would have been welcome.

Got married next to a pavilion then had ceremony under Christmas light covered pavilion.

Pavilion worked out great for lighting and we hired a DJ for ceremony and reception. Wedding was at sunset sp just enough light.

@ravenwait: Weee  did!

What Month did you get married? and what state?

August 6, Western NY (1 hour west of Buffalo)

Did the weather hold up nicely?

It rained all week and I was just beside myself worrying it would rain. It was cloudy the morning of, but cleared out nicely. It ended up being actually SUPER sunny and SUPER hot. Which…I don’t know what I expected for August, but anyway it was fine.

What did you do about rain possibilites?

We were hoping to do the ceremony outside in a separate area from the tent and then have the reception under the tent. In case of rain we would move the ceremony under the tent and have the altar be on the dance floor. Didn’t need it, PHEW. We didn’t really make any solid plans about layout or whatever for rain we just were going to wing it if it was needed.

What did you do about lighting and music?

Well, this was a big issue. We had the tent in the middle of a giant field at DH’s parents’ house (They have 25 acres…). So we decided we wanted cafe lights and lanterns, but this, along with everything else that needed power had to run off generators. Luckily DH’s dad is SUPER handy and has an enormous shop and happened to have 2 generators on hand. We ended up needing a third (lights, DJ equipment, coffee maker, fans add up!) but it was easily rentable from Home Depot. Music we hired a DJ who brought equipment and told us his power requirements. He also supplied some laser lights which weren’t that necessary but were sort of cool. I wrote a long thing for a couple of other bees about how to calculate the power you’ll need if you’re interested I can PM it to you.

Did you use tents?

Yep, rented a 30×60 for about 80 people (but we thought we would have near 100)

and also what did you do for a dance floor? (if you had one, that is)

Rented it from the same company as the tent. It was a little small but it was the only one they had so…it was fine.

Here are the pictures!

@lrc3233: What company did you use for the tent rental? I am a Buffalo bride, and will be having an outdoor wedding and don’t know of any good companies.

I did an outdoor wedding in TN June

We had a stage-like area that served as awning over food and dance floor

We had no back-up rain plan for the ceremony

We had a daytime wedding so we didn’t need extra lighting, but we borrowed/rented a sound system from a local music shop. There were two big speakers.

I am answering for a friend as her computer just went down. πŸ™

What Month did you get married? and what state? last October -Central PA

Did the weather hold up nicely? No rain and warm enough- something we worried about with an evening wedding

What did you do about rain possibilites? She reserved her church as a backup

What did you do about lighting and music? She used candles and oil lamps on the table, strung lights overhead, was planning to use the pavilion lights in the background but there was such a huge full moon everything almost seemed like overkill. She borrowed the youth group’s portable sound system and had a split of band and ipod.

Did you use tents? No! She loved the open, outdoor feel. πŸ™‚

what did you do for a dance floor? I (secondchances) and my BFF built one and it actually worked πŸ˜€ I was so shocked lol!

What Month did you get married? and what state?  September, about an hour north of Toronto, Ontario

Did the weather hold up nicely? For our first look, ceremony, cocktail hour, yes. It started pouring rain halfway through our reception.

What did you do about rain possibilites? We had a tent, but we also had to move indoors at 11pm due to noise restrictions, so we just moved over earlier (10pm I believe)

What did you do about lighting and music? Our DJ set up two stations because of the move issue, so we were in good shape. DH and our GM strung up Chrismas lights and lanterns to supplement the globe lights that came with our tent. We also had tea lights in votives on all the tables.

Did you use tents? Yes. We had a 30×80 for the tables and dance floor, two 10x10s for our chef, and another 10×20 for the bar/dj.

and also what did you do for a dance floor? (if you had one, that is) We rented one. We had our first dance there and then it got wet during the rain (the rental company either didn’t leave us walls for the tent or didn’t show anyone where they were and how to set them up, so it was a bit of a mess).
