I used a la mode embossing powder and I don't know what kind of stamp pad I used. I think if you have a more detailed stamp it will be easier to see everything with a finer embossing powder. Also try to get as much excess powder off. I had some case when powder wasn't on the design and showed up. Also remember to use clear embossing powder with a stamp design. Sorry my pics aren't that great. The have you heard the news was done with stamp embossing, and the save the date is the part of the post card that is embossed. It was done with an embossing pen.
I used Antuquities Embossing Powder and Staz-On Ink both in a navy blue. I had some issues with stray powders and got this thing at Michaels (in the ink/embossing powder section) that you rub on before stamping which does not allow powder to stick where you don't want it. I forget what it is called :( but it's nothing special, a sac filled with some sort of powder, but works great.
If you're having trouble with stray powder, make sure you keep your fingers off the surface that you're stamping. I sounds like your hand oils are causing the powder to stick. Also, make sure you're using a pigment ink pad.
You can also use one of those sheets you use in your dryer to rub on your paper before you stamp. That helps from keeping stray pieces from sticking where they shouldn't be. Also make sure that you are using a pigmented ink pad since they take a little longer to dry and give you time to get the powder on.
I just wanted to say I thought people were a little hard on you on your other post, I didn't really take it that you meant it that way..:-)
I am totally with you anycbride! I have an embossing powder that is fine but there are still stray little pieces of powder that stick which I cannot get rid of. (No, I don't touch the sheet of paper, so there are no oils on there) but I will have to try the dryer sheet idea. I have heard that before but haven't tried it yet!
So I'm very inspired by all these DIY brides and this embossing business. I ordered my STD's but want to add a little crafty touch to them and thought embossing my return address would be a good way to dip my toe into being creative. I have a stupid question though- do I really need to supply my own artwork to get a custom stamp? I kinda thought there would be "templates" and I could just customize it with my address. Can somebody help a DIY novice out?

What kind of embossing powder and stamp pad did you use? And were you happy the way they turned out. I decided to emboss flowers on my invitations, but so far I have not liked anything I have tried. If you embossing turned out good can you please post pics! Thanks!
