My dress was uncomfortably tight on the top in order to stay up. I actually thought I'd have irritation marks or even blisters after I took it off, but I didn't. I just wasn't used to wearing anything so heavy and tight.
I"m no seamstress, but in general I've found that most fabric actually stretches out with use and you do NOT want your strapless wedding gown to stretch out on your wedding day to the point where you are pulling it up. Mine stretched out to a comfortable fit, still really snug but after about 20 mins I didn't even notice it anymore.
I have only been to my first fitting, but when she pinned the dress it wasn't that tight. It was tight enough to hold everything up, but it was comfortable.
I don't think it should be so tight that you can't breathe comfortably. Mine was a little snug, but not uncomfortable.
Mine was pretty tight. it had a corset back and i couldn't take a big breath or eat. Do what you feel comfortable with. I felt paranoid if it wasn't that tight.
My strapless dress is really tight but I have less than a week before the wedding
Instead of paying for another alteration and risk ruining the dress just days before the wedding, I have decided to get a body wrap on Wednesday to maybe lose an inch or two of water weight to help me breathe a little easier.
I was under the impression that that is what the boning is supposed to take care of? I don't have a large chest but my strapless dress was ultra comfy and stayed up.
My corset ended right about my hips... and that is what kept my dress up.
I am nervous about this, too...had my first fitting last Thursday and first the tailor had me strapped into a super-tight bra one size smaller than what I told her I was. I had to ask her to loosen it a notch and then I was ok, although she told me it was then too loose...
Then when fitting the dress she wanted to take it in to make it very tight b/c she said your hips are actually what holds up the dress, not your chest, and I let her b/c I have also heard about the fabric stretching throughout the night. She had also told me that if I didn't let her take it in I could absolutely not lose any weight before the wedding and I wasn't sure if I could manage that with nerves and being so busy.
I am still nervous, though, b/c if I would gain any weight (you never know!) it'll be very tight...FI's cousin's dress was super-tight and combined with nerves and barely eating up until dinner then getting hot at the reception...she ended up vomiting when she should've been doing the money dance...not fun!

I'm wearing a strapless sweetheart A-line dress... and I went for my fitting this past Sunday... my dress was really snug, to the point where my breathing was partially constricted.
The seamstress said it's supposed to be that way so the dress doesn't fall down. But I'm concerned, as I don't want to be incredibly uncomfortable on the day-of.
I am a size 2 girl, with B-cup boobs, so I don't have much chest to hold up the dress.
Should I just work out and hopefully slim down a bit more to fit comfortably into the dress? Or should I call my seamstress and do a re-fitting?
My wedding is in two weeks.
