Oh we were in Punta Cana! Words of advice: when we were there, everybody and their mom got food poisoning. Watch your eggs. be sure they cook them 100% b/c they have a tendency to undercook. soembody just told me that overseas they use raw egg in their caesar dressing. stay away. DO NOT brush your teeth with the water, they say you can, but don't. just use bottled, you get plenty of it anyways.

Just some advice. seriously, everybody has gotten sick and this is the "compiled list" of what not to do thus far.

And don't bring the Mama Juana home. It looks like wood chips in a bottle, then they make it like lemoncello over a month. They will confiscate it at the airport.

bring some bug spray. the sand fleas are fierce over there. we went to target and got aluminum water bottles that had straws. the bartenders happilly filled them up with margaritas and pina coladas for us, then we had icy cool beverages for much much longer than anybody else!

We are torn between two very different locations... he first found this amazing hideaway resort in Costa Rica, and I was ready to go swimsuit shopping.  Then, on his way to Afghanistan, his unit stopped in Ireland (we're both of Irish descent).  Now we're thinking of going there!  Either would be perfect.  We agreed that wherever we don't honeymoon, we'll go on an anniversary trip in a few years.

We aren't sure if we're going to be able to afford it yet, but our dream is to do a back-to-back cruise! We'd like to do one week by ourselves, then have my sister and her family join us for the second week - it would be a ton of fun, and we're hoping to eventually start a tradition of yearly cruises with my sister's family, and what could be a better way to start that off?!

We are getting married in October, so we are renting a cabin right outside of Smokey Mountain National Park in Tennessee-at the height of leaf changes, it will be glorious to enjoy the mountains during high season! I'm so looking forward to our very secluded cabin with very private hot tub with a roaring fire, a glass of wine and a view over the mountains! Oh...let's not forget smooching with my new hubby in that steamy hot tub!

We're splitting our honeymoon into 2 parts.  Part 1 was a mini-moon in Jackson Hole after the wedding.  We spent a week there, hiking through Yellowstone, biking, eating everything we wanted and just relaxing.  Part 2 is a ten-day trip to Belize over the holidays to snorkel, hike, fish and sun-bathe.  Can't wait!

We're going to fish and snorkel and boat and TAN and relax!  Cant wait!

We are thinking about Secrests Maroma Beach...or Paris. Big difference. Somehow a beach destination seems more fitting because we'll get to relax completely, snorkel, scuba, kayak etc. but Paris seems sooo romantic.

We don't know yet!  And we're SIX WEEKS out...

At first we were Carribbean all the way - beaches, sexy swimwear, tropical drinks with umbrellas, bring it on!  Then we decided that maybe a honeymoon was really too much on top of a wedding that we're footing the bill for.

Now, we're back to taking a short honeymoon (like just 4 nights) and we're torn between FL, Puerto Rico and St. Thomas.  We have to stay inside US properties since we didn't get our passports months ago when we were thinking of doing this in the first place...

We HAVE to decide this week!

We went to the Adventura Spa Palace south of Cancun - they kept talking about the new DR resort.  I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Spa Palace.  If you can - get conceirge level!  It's so worth the money.

We're going to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and staying in a totally secluded cabin. It has a heart shaped bathtub under a skylight. And a jacuzzi on the back deck. It also has a pool table, jukebox, and a loft. I cannot wait!

I'm ridiculously excited about our honeymoon. We are spending two fabulous weeks in Paris! We've had our hotel and plane tickets for almost a year now. I have been working really hard on my French, and can't stop daydreaming about being in Paris. Sometimes I feel super guilty that we are being so extravagant during the recession. We are having a tiny wedding, and our honeymoon is going to cost more than the wedding. I keep telling myself that this is something we have dreamed about doing together since we met, and that it will truly be priceless. Is anyone else feeling a little guilty/unsure about spending tons on a honeymoon in this economic climate?

We are going to Ireland.  Neither of us are big beach people.  We are going to spend 8 nights there and spend each night in a different B&B and one night in a castle.  I can't wait, it is going to be awesome.

Hopefully Costa Rica although nothing is booked yet!  It's the perfect balance of beach and adventure for us!

OttawaBride: NYC in the spring is great!  It's not the height of tourist season and in May, people are already starting to go down the shore/Hamptons, so it's a lot less crowded.  You'll love it.

Megeileen and lisanne, your coming to Ireland for your honeymoon, take it from a native bring lots of raingear. Just had the worst summer since 1939 or something. Our country is a fantastic place and has really stunning senery but it does tend to rain a lot, maybe thats why we drink hot whisky and guiness.

Dublin is great but if you want great senery head south west to Kerry, or north to Donegal even SJP has a house in Ireland so your in good taste in picking the emerald isle as a honeymoon destination.

We were thinking Canada, anybody got advice for us going there end of April time, how is the weather at that time of the year?

sounds like you guys have some AMAZING trips planned! the bf and i have been talking about a honeymoon in greece since before we were talking about marriage! haha considering the economy and that we will prob be paying for a wedding alone (and buying a house the same year).... just not sure its in the budget. Lately I've been thinking maybe we should do 3 nights at a beach somewhere and then take a trip to greece later when we won't be so stressed with money. luckily, i have LOTS of time to think about it haha.

Charleston, SC -- its kind of a mini-moon, but we really preferred to stay in US. Low-key, lots of relaxing on the beach, shopping in quaint downtown boutiques, dinner in fancy restaurants, and massages at our great hotel :)

Rio de Janeiro. Me and and an ex visited a while back. We had so much fun. I never told my hubby of course, but it was no surprise our Honey Moon took place in Rio either. Visit during Carnival, it is wild. And I read a post about Aruba, definitely nice.

Cairns and Sydney, Australia! We went to Sydney for a 2 week trip in 2007 and Mr Moo loved it so much (also I have extended family there who won't be able to make it to the wedding so we're taking some wedding glow to them!). So super excited. We're booking flights next week - because it gets expensive fast!
