If she’s a friend of yours, I assume she’d be attending the wedding anyway even if she wasn’t helping. Couldn’t she just wear whatever she wanted? If she’s asking for suggestions, you can’t go wrong with a little black dress.

I thought ladies in waiting were companions to a queen – I’ve never heard of them in reference to a wedding before.  What exactly does the role entail?

I think a pencil skirt and blouse looks very business like.  Like a personal assisstant and not a friend doing a favour.

But ultimately, I think if she isn’t a bridal party member then she can wear whatever she likes.

I think your lady-in-waiting is my area’s version of a personal attendant. They generally wear anything that they’d like (in the level of formality of your wedding), and sometimes it’s within the wedding color scheme. They’re usually provided w/ a corsage as well.

As long as her dress isn’t one-off from the bridal party’s outfits, there shouldn’t really be an issue.
