Hi Fellow ‘Bees!
I have been lurking the boards for quite some time. Admittedly, I have found solice on various postings until now venting and keeping “sane” as I wait for my SO to propose.
Based on some good advice on this post my common-law spouse and I had a recent sit-down… and confirmed that he will be proposing in less than 6 months. My SO is VERY methodical and pragmatic so for him to let me know that engagement in less than 6 months … means it’s surely coming.
My SO has already solicited ring ideas… and I have to excitedly say that I am most interested in a 3 carat bluish green sapphire and diamond engagement ring (oooh yaaaay)! He loved the idea… so fingers crossed!
Most recently, his parents and immediate family have begun to refer to me as “family” and they have already acknowledged that they will be purchasing patio furniture for us as a “pre-wedding gift” … 🙂
However… as I wait… like many others on this Board… its excruciating! On one hand I would love a surprise… and on the other… i’m of the mind we should maturely have a chat… no fuss, no muss… and no ring. The pressure of all the “stuff” seems to overshadow the beauty and bliss of the moment of acknowledging a commitment in life and love together. Does anyone else on here feel this way?
Would love to hear your thoughts on battling the guilt of a substantive “proposal” vs. one based less on monetary affirmations and one more focused on the expression of a heart’s sentiment.
