GymnastQt009 :  I have definitely been “under the gun” before to find employment fast, and I can tell you that this happened at a good time (calendar-wise). So many companies are hiring in first quarter because they have a brand new budget, and they are ready to take on the new year full force. Just recently, I decided that I wanted to make more money so I would start searching for a new job: within 1 week of hunting, I had 2 offers. You can do it!

Stay positive! Use your contacts! Use recruiters! And be bold – I emailed some decision makers of pretty large companies, and I got my foot in the door that way. Good luck to you, and congratulations on your new home and new career! xoxo

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your job. I can imagine how you must be stressed however, try to remain positive and hopeful that you will find another job. It’s great that you are being proactive and not wallowing which is easy to do in a situation like this.

I unfortunately don’t have any advice but is there a way you can discuss your financial state moving forward with a professional or someone else (for instance I would probably get in touch with my father who is a banker and good with numbers) just in case you do not find a job right away? I know I would probably want to know how to manage my bills and money at this time. What is your DH’s income like? Would it be enough to sustain you for the time being until you can find something else?

It sucks, but you may find temporary work through an agency while you keep looking for something perminent.  It’s still income inbound.

GymnastQt009 :  Thank you — I’m very excited about my new position! I just want you to be encouraged because there really is so much other there. My FI also just got laid off a few weeks ago, and I told him that it could not have happened at a better time in the year. Just stay positive and it will all work out!! xoxo Good luck.

GymnastQt009 :  Awesome, awesome, awesome bee! You’ll definitely have an offer in no time. Just always keep your “pipeline” of potential employers open and fresh by using personal and professional contacts, reaching out to recruiters on LinkedIn, and calling / emailing / dropping in on local businesses in the area you would like to work. I did just that and my new job is actually located right across the street from where I live (one stop sign away)! I’m making much more money! More vacation time, better benefits, increased flexibility, and did I mention no commute!!

Life has so many ups and downs…but I guarantee that you won’t be down for very long!! The job market is hot! Let us know how your interview on Monday and Tuesday go. I’ll have fingers crossed for you. xoxo

Just wanted to offer some encouragement as well! I was let go last year (my fiance is in school) so money was tight as I was also saving for my Masters and I was so worried I wouldn’t make rent. I ended up taking two part-time jobs since I was SO desperate but ended up being able to leave both as I found full-time employment by the end of the month. Good luck on the interviews! Money struggles are never fun.

Hola! I know the feelings, I was laid off two and half weeks ago as well (But instead of a house to pay for I have to pay for a wedding soon).

Its great to see you are staying positive! I wish you the best in your interviews! Keep at it.
