Overnight prints will do them with coating. Maybe only coat one side coated so you can write on the other?
I don't think the lamination would look tacky at all. And I would probably use the bookmark. Great idea!
That's exactly what I am doing!! You can buy a really small laminator for not very much, if it's something worth having or if you have something unique that you want to laminate (I am doing library card catalog cards). You can also buy tassels online if you want the official "bookmark" look.

For escort cards, we want to do bookmarks, but I do want to make sure they actually last for a decent amount of time, so I don't want to use just paper and I was thinking of doing some sort of lamination. Do you think that would look tacky? Does anyone have any alternatives that might work?
