It’s definitely different and I think would depend on what your venue looked like as to if you could pull it off.  Honestly though, I think it’s a stretch to be able to pull it off well.

How tall are the vases you plan to use? I think it’s a really cool and unique idea but you’d want to be sure that the lampshades aren’t too low that they act as a big visual-block on the table (that hurts conversation, makes it tough to see around the room to watch the B&G, etc).

Personally, I think your wedding would need to have a rather modern vibe to rock the illuminated lampshades.  They have a very urban/city chic feel to me.  But if you can pull it off…go for it!  They are certainly striking!  🙂

I think the shape of your vase and the shape/type of your lampshade will definitely determine how well you pull this off. You can either go modern or shabby chic with the lampshade thing. I would love to see a mock-up once you firm up the idea a bit.

I did for a company christmas party once – it lookd awesome!

One cool (and relatively inexpensive) way to give interest to tall vases it to fill them with cellophane (not cling wrap – think the stuff used for gift baskets) and then pour water in. The cellophane looks sparkly and textured, it’s really neat, and cheaper than ‘bling’

Wow they are really cool!! I love them! It would definitely give you a more modern vibe like @missadventure said, if you do them like the pictures above. But i can see how you could turn them into a vintage look by changing the vase and lampshade style.. really by changing those things you could make it fit whatever decor theme you want. Good luck- I think it’s a great idea.

This one is my favorite…it doesn’t look overly modern at all and ties into the decor used.

This one doesn’t go with the decor as much

This one looks fun and unique

I’m not sure if you decided to do the lamps or not but if you find a good/cheap place to get lamps shades…let me know! I want to do this for my wedding as well.
