Weddingbee boards

My husband recently bought me a book entitled "Mayan Hearts" as a Christmas present. It is a beautiful, handmade book created by a Washington, DC-based artist/printmaker, Naul Ojeda, and a now retired Smithsonian anthropologist, Dr. Robert Laughlin. My book is signed by him, and according to the inside cover there were only 500 copies printed. I bought four additional books (for my mum, my dad, my best friend and a spare - perhaps as a wedding present -- though not for my insane sister-in-law), which I may give as either birthday presents (Mum's is 27 January) or for Valentine's Day.

Although I am not normally a great fan of Mayan culture, I will freely admit that this book touched me, because of its beauty and artistic design. The words are translations of the traditional Mayan language Tzotzil, and even in translation, they read like poetry: "My heart aches: "I am in love." "You perfume my heart: you give me pleasure." and "Your heart is a fire."

I normally do not make recommendations or promote certain products, but this is so unique and beautiful that it would make a great gift for an engaged couple, a Valentine's Day gift, etc. It would truly be a gift from the heart :-)
