Yes, I did from about month 6 and I think it really helped my nipples toughen up or at the very least, get used to being handled regularly. :)
I was wondering the same thing. I saw several different types, some other creams were all natural without lanolin etc. I had no idea which to buy.
@808bride: i definitely giggled at "get used to being handled regularly"
Any suggestions? I was thinking of using it at night after I shower. Should I wear a bra and nursing pads? or skip both? I really have no idea!!
@octobermom: I bought the Lansinoh brand. I bought it at BRU but it's a couple of dollars cheaper at walmart and target.
I discovered during pregnancy that I'm allergic to lanolin... No lanolin for me!
@Mrs. DG: That's good to figure out ahead of time!
Yes, I used it liberally at night. I'm pretty sure it was without a bra or pads, except on a few nights when it felt very heavy and uncomfortable. I used it a lot the first month after giving birth but only a handful of times since then. Don't have to stock up. For me, I had some skin flaking off so I'm pretty sure the lanolin beforehand improved the texture and elasticity.
Like @Mrs. DG: I started putting it on my nipples during my last month and found I was itchy all the time and that was the only change. I switched to Earth Mama Angel Baby's Natural Nipple Butter and haven't had an issue. I don't know that it helped toughen anything up but it couldn't have hurt. Also, I use it as a lubricant when I pump. So much more comfortable that way.
I was using cocoa butter on my tummy at night after I showered so I also greased up my boobs. I do think it helped.
Once I gave birth I started putting lanolin on the boobs instead for the first month. If you are using cocoa butter try to get a lotion where it's listed as the first ingredient, alot of the lotions say they have cocoa butter but it's not the first ingredient so I'm not sure that they really have much in those.
@Mrs. DG: & @Pelikila: I didn't even think of that being an issue! Hopefully, I won't have a problem but I would rather know ahead of time.

Has anyone used Lanolin before baby? Do you feel like it helped prepare your nipples for breastfeeding? Did it help prevent some of the issues that come with BF?
I have a few weeks to go and I'm sure it couldnt hurt to use it now but I'm curious to see if it actually helps to use it before baby comes.
