Ikea has some simple lanterns for 6.99 ea and Pier One/World Market has more indian inspired ones for 10.00-30.00$ each. I found a lot of my lanterns in the clearance bins throughout the year. I have 20 mis-matched lanterns though.

🙂 Good Luck!

I bought all my lanterns at Ikea.  They were cheap and had a couple different options of smaller ones (3.99?) , a big one 14.99, and then the 6.99 medium ones.

I got these from ikea in white. I plan on hanging mine in the trees, plus they were super cheap at $3.99

@miamour28:  I am doing lanterns for my centerpieces as well; but, since I was picky about what I wanted, I spent way too much money on them.  However, you can find them on ebay in lots and for pretty cheap too.  You can also look in the classifieds on here or on Craigslists.  Those are places I looked.  It really depends on what you want.  I would definitely look around though!

Good luck on your lantern hunt!

Do you know anyone who lives near a Christmas Tree Shop?  There’s one in Waldorf, MD and another in Hagarstown, MD, but those are quite far from VA Beach.  Most of their stores are in the north east.

I saw these lanterns at a store in Boston and had my mother go to the store near her in NJ to get me 8 big ones and 4 small ones to use in the decor at my wedding.  I got the weathered wood ones, but they have white ones, too.  The small ones would be perfect for centerpieces and they only cost $12.99.

Here’s a super simple inspiration picture…replace the lemons with shells, perhaps?  Or, fill the lanterns with a few inches of sand and put a candle in there (white candles that work with the small lanterns were $1.50 at Christmas Tree Shop).

Another idea with flowers…you could use seagrass or something more rustic?

Also, don’t forget to check amazon.com and overstock.com.  Narrow by price so you’re not looking at ones way out of your budget (like I did)!  Amazon has lots of reviews and suggests similar products, which I love.  And if you have the time/energy, thrift stores may also have nice vintage lanterns.  Good luck!

Check out IKEA. The large lantern I bought on the left was 17 inches high and were $15. I think while sitting at the table, the 17 inch one is just a bit too tall to talk across (but after my lantern shopping adventures full of returns – I just kept them). They sell 11″ ones for $8 that I wish I had used instead. Ikea is a good hour drive away.. I was DONE with the lanterns. The IKEA lantern below comes in silver and black.

The ‘small’ lantern in this picture is from home decorators collection, but are no longer in stock. I went back to order more and they were out-out-OUT. I just looked yesterday, still out. Thats about 5 months now.  These gems look ‘cuter’ in my opinion, but they are $25 a peice. I wish I just bought all IKEA ones.
