Those are gorgeous! Now I'm trying to think of how/where I can use those. I love them!
Thanks! I'm going to be making five total. Three will be on the outside of the windows (on the balcony) and two will be inside the reception room, so that when you look at the wall with all the windows from either side there's the illusion that the two spaces are connected.
They would look great around a room too. These stand about 6' tall, but you could go bigger or smaller if you wanted. You could use them at the ceremony site or anywhere really.

I saw these pictured while browsing around for ideas on how to add more dramatic lighting. Our vineyard venue has a banquet room with a balcony where we will be having dinner and dancing. The two spaces are divided by a wall of windows, and I wanted a way to tie in both spaces, plus make the area where people will be smoking or getting fresh air (silly to combine those two, I think) not seem like an afterthought. I wanted to make it pretty. I decided to make these to place along the window both inside and outside, creating the illusion that the spaces are joined. Sorry for the grainy cell phone picture. I'll take better ones when I get home tonight. I just had to share with people who would appreciate the awesomeness of it!
It was created by taking a cheap planting pot and dropping a 1"x2"x6' stick into it and then using some ready-mix concrete to hold it in. I used a vice to hold the stick level and about 1/2" off the bottom of the pot while the cement cured for 24 hours (just to be sure it was good and solid). The amazing thing is that since the cement is in there, it acts like a wheeble wobble - I have to try really hard to knock it over...it always seems to recenter itself...which will be great if it's a little windy outside! I wrapped a strand of white lights around the stick and then threaded the lanterns on. When I turned it on, I sat mesmerized by it for about 10 minutes! I'm super excited about it and can't wait to make the rest of them. I'm waiting on a battery operated string of LED lights to do a test with, and then I should be able to have them cordless!
