We're having an evening reception, so we're working on all sorts of nice lighting effects.  Here is the latest--a DIY lit-up bar menu.  (We'll do a similar menu for food, once we finalize the food choices.)

Awesome!  I like the effect.  We are also working on lighting as we will be having an outdoor, evening reception.  Unfortunately, since we are getting married in a park, we can't have candles! What is your lightsource?

that looks so cool. im also having an outdoor reception that will start during the day and go into night. im thinking of getting lots and lots of those cafe lights to string across the reception area but would love to hear what others are thinking of. im not really interested in hiring a professional lighting company unless i absolutely have to, so any creative DIY ideas are VERY welcome!

That looks beautiful! I'm thinking of engraving menus or table numbers in acrylic, wiring LEDs to them, and putting them in a frame. I've done this before with pictures, and it would be a clear piece of acrylic with the words glowing.

WOW, those are awesome, how did you do that?!?!!? I'm having an outdoor, tented wedding and I'm pretty much in love with every single lighting/candle idea I come across...Paper lanterns, strings of cafe lights, paper bag lanterns, tiki torches, hanging metal lanterns...I love and want it all!

mandalynn17, the light source is a Westinghouse Stick-Up bulb, which I managed to find for $2.97 each from an Amazon seller.  I've now posted full instructions for making and lighting the lantern menus at this link:

@attybride, go ahead and steal!  I seriously doubt anyone will be coming to both of our weddings to notice.
