There are a ton of great photographers in LA. Maybe if you give us your criterias, the bees can recommend someone. Otherwise you are liable to get hundreds of recommendations.

I'm using Lucent Photography (blog here) - Shawn's really nice, and he's in your price range. He's based in San Diego, though he's driving to OC for us.
We are using eight20photography.com They are very reasonable and will work with your budget.
We're using Sandra Salisbury. She's incredibly talented and very reasonable. Hope you find someone you like!!

we used carrie chow from LA a few weeks ago! she's very sweet, knows how to pose you, and makes you feel comfortable while taking photos. we also got a great deal!
we are using caroline tran. we haven't taken any pics yet but her work is great, she's very personable, and easy to get along with.
I would contact RJG Photo (I cant find the website link) but the number is (310) 202-0150 his work is really transcendental! I beg you to look at his book and you will be sold-prices are very good too!

There are so many good photographers in Southern California, it's tough to narrow it down! One resource you might consider is the ISPWP website which lists California photographers with proven experience and peer recognition. Good luck in your search!

www.anikalondon.com this is a couple that works together. For 3K you get photography and videography, and they pay for their own travel fees. They're based in SD, but they'll come up to LA without any extra charge. They're really good, and 2 friends have already booked with them. They're new so that's why the price is so low, and they truly love what they do.
