I actually didn’t have this surgery, but a very good friend of mine did.  She just knew that she would have to get something with a corset built into the back so that she had plenty of space just in case.  It ended up working out perfectly for her.

I definately second the corset idea. I’d scope out styles that you know you can get shipped fast/in store locally in multiple sizes, and have a list of possibilities

I’m a VSG (Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy) bride! I had my surgery on Feb. 9th and my wedding is Oct. 1st.

I have lost over 60 lbs already and went from a size 24 to an 18.

I am going dress shopping in 2 weeks when my mom comes to visit (she wanted me to wait of course!) Here is my tentative plan:

1. Get the lead times on the dresses. I (most likely) cannot buy off the rack because I am over 6′ tall… I need that length added!

2. Order down 1 size from where I am when I order, make sure they can take it down at least 2 more sizes if needed.

3. CORSET BACK! More wiggle room for making it tighter.

4. Cross my fingers and toes.

Congratulations on your success, I know how much work it is living life after WLS ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m a gastric bypass bride with an October wedding this year. I’ve lost 130 lbs in the last 5 months, and ordered my gown about a month ago.  I ordered two sizes down and got a corset back.  I was totally honest to all of my consultants while shopping and  most did suggest the corset back.

I have the lapband. It’s nice to meet other brides going thru the same “adventure” I bought my dress at David’s bridal. I explained my situation to them and they have made note in the computer that when I go back for final fitting in december, if the dress is too big I can return/exchange it.

Any of you willing to “buddy” up thru our daily journey in weightloss?

Hi girls,

I’m a second time round lap-band bride, first one had lots of issues. I lost 90lbs the first time and gained 22lbs when it was taken out so I wanted to loose approx 25. 13lbs down and 12 to go. Getting married in January.

I plan to be at roughly goal weight by July/August so I can start looking but will probably look at corset back too. So glad someone started this tread, it is great to know I’m not the only one.

<—- banded bride lol.  I’ve been banded for 2 years and lost 120 lbs. I’m comfortable with myself right now and I’m just maintaining. I didn’t get a corset back but the dress I got is snug so I could stand to lose a few pounds and still look good in it. Good luck to all you guys!
