We are going with a plum and a deeper green for our July wedding. However, some of the bridesmaids are going with more of a kelly green for their dresses to balance out the deep colors. I don't think deep purple too terribley seasonal, I suppose have a mix of deep and some lighter (but does not have to be super light) colors.
@Knubbsy-Wubbsy: Out of curiosity, what are your groomsmen wearing? Our dates are one day apart and we have pretty similar color palletes so far, so any advice on colors for the season would be helpful.
This keeps changing but for now what we've told them is: pocket square to match escort (so purple or green), black vest (though FH wants them to match the pocket square, that strikes me as too prom-y), and black tux. We haven't decided on what color ties (which will be neck ties) but they will likely match the pocket square. I allows a range of greens and purples for the girls to choose from so I have to wait to give them all the final decision (only one has found a dress so far, kind of scary).
Our chapel is gold and red and our ballroom is cream and gold but we will have hunter green tableclothes (praying it doesn't look too Christmas-y, so we are downplaying the red).
We are trying to limit our palate for simplicity's sake so it's turning into: the darker side of green (kelly to hunter/Baylor Green) with plum, white, and gold accents (flowers will be purple with the gold and white present on the table decor and chairs)
for summer, i like it when guys are in vests, dress shirts, and skinny ties but no jacket. tuxes just seem to formal and stiff, and i think summer weddings should be a little bit more laid back and breezy. what if you added a shade of yellow? i saw in a magazine plum with a mustard yellow, but i think a light yellow would be really pretty with it too!
What if you had the girls in lapis dresses, and sunflowers were their bouquet?
and then your guys could wear gray or black vests, with some sort of yellow boutenier and maybe a lapis tie.
im also using lapis as my color, we are having the accent colors be silver and ivory
We are also using lapis purple as our main color. Our other colors are going to be champagne and just a hint of sage... to add a little extra color to the mix. So the purple/champagne won't be so rich looking.
I've had trouble finding linens and things, if you have any suggestions or links, please share! Thanks so much!
We are using lapis. Our guys are wearing gray suits. Our accent color is a bright green- kind of like a kiwi color but not quite as bright.
i vote for a marigold color, or a peach color to go with the lapis. the lapis is my main color for our wedding and green is the other color and dark orange is an accent color. you could also use orange for summer too! it's your wedding - do what colors you want :)
We're going with lapis dresses as well, my colors are basically all purples and blues. So hints of lavender and sky blue along with lapis and royal blue, with silver and ivory in our centerpieces. Haven't figured out the guys yet so can't help you there, sorry!
I wore lapis for a friend's wedding last year. She paired it with a pale, minty green.
I love that color! To brightem up, I'd go with a sunny yellow, but to avoid overkill (it is a very 'stand out' color) I would also use ivory.
Good luck! It sounds beautiful!
My cousin had a lapis and chocolate wedding this past summer. We wore lapis dresses and the guys wore chocolate suits.
We are using Lapis for our August wedding. Our accent colors are that of a peacock feather so deep royal blue, teal, turquoise and a splash of lime here and there. I love it!
I got married Labor Day weekend...my colors were plum, apple green, and silver. Using the lighter green and silver as accent colors was a nice balance to the dark plum. We also incorporated peacock feathers.

Hello,
My fiance and I have chosen the color of our bridesmaid dresses- lapis (a deep purple). I know that this is traditionally more of a winter or fall color, but it is one of my favorites so we are going to work it with our summer '11 wedding.
So, what colors could we use to accent this color to make it more summer-y? More specifically, do you have recommendations for what the guys could wear?
I am thinking of yellow, green, and ivory as accents but I am not sure if that will give it enough pop and brighten it up enough. What do you think?
