- Wedding: October 2014
Too funny….I literally just asked friends of ours last night if they could hear at our wedding as they sat at the last row.
We had an outside ceremony in the winter on a patio that was close(ish) to a highway with 110 people. I did have a DJ with 1 speaker and yes guests could hear. Our officiant had the mic and we just talked normal. His 2 cents is that people will know what is said as he will say it via the mic and it’s doesn’t matter if they hear us or not. This way people hear what is going on but we get a more intimate moment and we don’t need to worry about a mic.
It was great and people really enjoyed our ceremony.
Don’t stress if you have a mic for your officiant and 1 -2 speakers it will be great.
If there is no mic/pa system then they probably won’t be able to hear. I went to a small (probably 50-75 guests total) outdoor wedding this summer and I was in probably the 3rd row, I couldn’t hear a thing.
Just make sure you have a pa system and you should be fine.
You will definitely need a PA and microphone. Otherwise, no one will hear.
We are doing an outdoor ceremony with about 130 guests and we’re having a microphone just to be safe. we probably wouldn’t need it but if it’s windy or traffic is loud I don’t want to risk it.
We had 100 and I had it mic’ed with a PA. I had been to outdoor weddings where I couldn’t hear anything, so I made sure to prioritize this for us!
Our DJ set up sound for us as it would have been an issue otherwise.
