@Julielynn83: vegas. i really want a destination wedding, but my FI isn't totally into it yet.. soo we're still looking around where we live, but we'll see.
@Julielynn83:Hi date twin!
I'd rather have the home wedding with my family and friends and then go to Vegas for my anniversary next year.
I vote for Vegas wedding (and make it as cheesy or as elegant as you want it to be), and then just throw a big, super casual house party back at home for the rest of your family and friends.
my original *secret* wedding was a super campy vegas wedding at Graceland Chapel, with Elvis and all. I LOVED it!!!!
the ILs would be angry if we went to Vegas as they wouldn't come, and would insist we did it that way to exclude them and because we are ashamed of something (take your pick).
most of my friends and family could't afford to go anyway, so they would feel bad about it too.
I was super excited about going to vegas but now I'm not too sure cause only our parents and a few other family and friends will be there so its a hard decision! I will get alot more for my money in vegas. I would have a very low budget like 3 to 4 thousand if I do it at home! I'm sure I can pull off a nice wedding but not sure what to do! LOL
I live in Vegas so we're doing a Vegas wedding regardless. I had originally wanted to do an immediate family only wedding but there was a bit of drama and it was expanded to aunts and uncles as well. I voted a super small Vegas wedding because that's what I would prefer.
We decided to have our wedding in Las Vegas instead of here at home in NC!!!!! am super excited and we are now down to 98 days till our wedding. We decided on staying at treasure island and we ar having our ceremony at Vegas weddings. the website is www.702weddings.com everyone there has been totally helpful! Good luck.
we are going to do it at the chapel of the flowers but I will check out that one too~!
It's totally up to you and your FI at the end of the day, but we're having a destination wedding (from the UK to NYC) to cut down on; tradition, and other peoples forced ideas, money, stress, the awkward "I feel like I should invite so-and-so even tho I don't want to / haven't seen them since 2010" and we are making it more about US and our love for each other, and less about everyone else.
I'd say if you want low cost stress free, go destination wedding. If you want big, and for everyone you know to be looking at you, do it at home. You will be able to plan a wedding on a small budget, no problems. But what ever decision you make, do it with you and FI in mind. Not what your parents, or his parents, or his granmother's aunty's neighbour wants.
Good luck and happy planning
low budget wedding at home with family and friends
We had a Vegas wedding with our family - right around 10 people too. It was the best time ever- I cannot imagine it any other way. You just know if it's right for you to not have a big wedding. Our families had a blast too!
All I can say is that walking up and down the strip in my wedding dress taking pictures was the best feeling ever!
I did a Vegas wedding (about 40 people) and am kind of sad that I thought I had to spend tens of thousands of dollars to have a wedding in my home state. Honestly, I wish I would've done something really casual and simple but HUGE so that everyone could've been there. If only I'd had WB back then!
Family and momentous occassions like weddings are really important to me so I chose the home wedding as solidifying your relationship by joining your families and sharing the celebration is what I think all that wedding hype is about... and I love it!
My fiance is English and so some of his family will be coming my way (CA) because I have a bigger family and I'm the girl! lol We almost had a destination wedding because it just wasn't fair to have it in one of our hometowns and exclude the other's family but then we decided to have it in CA because its a beautiful destination anyway and if the UK were gonna fly somewhere, it might as well be to CA!
It IS about you and your husband but its also about the families joining together too ;]
There are plenty of ways to cut on costs and have a beautiful $4K wedding with all the people who love and adore your and your FI so that would be my choice if I were you...
VEGAS will be there for you guys long after you're married~ Visit on your honeymoon!
if you do decide on a las vegas wedding, you mite want to check out las vegas at the grove. Its a very beautiful all inclusive venue and you can have up to 45 guests. Heres the link:
