My mother and I went to a bridal show and she received a call that she won a gift certificate from a laser hair removal spa from the show. She is thinking about giving me the certificate since the spa is pretty far for her to drive for all the sessions.
Ideally, I would love to get it on my upper lip and from what I read I am a great candidate bc I have dark hair and light skin, but what is blowing my mind is that after scouring the web and boards, I have found that no one seems to have an issue with the fact that you cannot bleach or remove the hair for 6 weeks prior to the first session!! I have a job that I have to go to every day, I can’t ask my boss to cancel my client meetings and let me work from home for a month because I will be sporting a mustache!!!! And while it is a pain in the butt to bleach weekly and pluck pretty much daily, I am most certain that no one at work has ever seen evidence of a mustache on me so it would be pretty noticeable if I went au natural for a month and a half. I can’t even go on vacation without having some semblance of a bathroom/private room where I can tweeze/wax by flashlight if need be…he says “Oh just go natural” and I think he underestimates what I am telling him when I say if I did that for a 7 day trip I would have a unibrow, mustache and chin patch by the end of the week. I’m pretty sure he never would have asked me out the first time he saw me if I were my au natral true self (but I guess I should be hapy that he seems to think he would still love me even if I grew a better playoff beard than him)!
I did see that you can shave (that scares me completely) or use depilatory cream before the treaments, and I am very unsure of how well that would work. So have any women who have to go out in public every day had this done and were you able to do it without a visible mustache in the weeks leading up to and in between sessions? I am bewildered that no one has seemed to address that, I’ve just read praise for getting rid of the hair.
If nothing else, I will probably just get my underarms treated and continue torturing my face every morning with the tweezers.
Have any other ladies experienced a heavier growth of unwanted hair? When I first started bleaching/tweezing/waxing in high school I didn’t seem to have to do it so frequently, now if I let it go over the weekend I have a mess on Monday morning. I’m in my late twenties and have been on birth control pills since the age of 19 (have never been pregnant) and I am beginning to think these pills are really messing with my body in terms of hair growth, cystic acne, and migraines. I’ve changed pulls for the acne and migraines and nothing helps.
