I used to tint my lashes all the time and I love the look. I am considering doing this for the big day as well.
As for waterproof mascara, I would try the L'Oreal or Lancome lines.
One of my friends who has light hair got her lashes tinted once. It looked great! I love it. The price is cheap (like about $20 or less); the procedure is noneventful and fast. It lasts as long as the hair growth cycle of your lashes which could range from 2-3 month. I would highly recommend it to you!
As for myself, I have dark hair so no tinting required. For my wedding, I permed my lashes 2 weeks b4 AND got fake lashes from my makeup artist.
Great thread - I have BLONDE eyebrows and lashes!!!! And have always considered tinting both (my eyes disappear without make-up) because I have paint on both all the time!
I am also a BIG crier so I am definitely going to wear fakes for the wedding!
I do have a personal tinter - I think it is loreal and it tints your lashes for 2-5 days - and then it gets clumpy and you have to remove it with Vaseline. But I have found that it worked well for me during swimming and going camping and such!
Let me know if you try it!
Go to a salon and have them professionally done. It won't cost much, and it will last a few weeks. (I used to have this done once a month -- and I lived in a city in Eastern Europe where it's totally part of most women's monthly beauty maintenance -- it really does NOT last longer than a few weeks, whatever someone might claim.) Still, totally a good beauty bang for the buck. Just make sure the person who is doing it has done it many times before. You don't want someone who doesn't know what they're doing applying dye to your eyelids, believe me.
Thanks for the help! I was concerned about the whole dye-in-the-eye thing, so your tips are very helpful. It's nice to get info from people who have experienced it as opposed to salon people trying to sell you on it.
Thanks!
I've heard you can go blind from this...that being said, I got mine done, and I LOVED it. While they last more than a week, they fade pretty quickly, so you might want to do it the week of your wedding and still put a tiny bit of waterproof mascara on....Also, there are some ways that are better than others on how to "blot" should you cry.
If you can afford it, though, I'd recommend lash extensions instead. They look amazing!

Sooo...it is a fact that I am going to be a blubbering hot mess on my wedding day. I am a lifelong uncontrollable crier. I wan't to avoid the whole mascara mess on the day, as I don't trust waterproof mascaras. My own lashes are fairly long but they're aren't as thick as I'd like and the ends are pretty fair considering my dark brown hair. A friend suggested getting my lashes tinted and wearing fake lashes for thickness (you can see my light lashes if I wear fakies without mascara).
Anybody ever had their lashes tinted? Is it reasonably priced/worth it? How long does it last? Any horror stories or general words of wisdom/warning?
OR
Anyone know a rock solid, never-ever-ever streak or smudge mascara?
