we’ve been TTC for a while now and every so often AF is late.  every time she is, i take a HPT and religiously, AF arrives the next day.   hope this isn’t the case for you though! xx

I was just reading a thing on FF yesterday where they did a study on what day people tested, and when they got their BFP. It said that the average LP is 14 days, and the average BFP came at exactly 14 days… meaning, by the time your period is late, most women get their positive. Sorry… I wouldn’t get my hopes up if I were you. 🙁

Mrs.KMM:  When you say that you’re charting, do you mean you’re temping or are you just recording when you get your period and then going by predicted O date? If you’re not temping, it’s very possible you ovulated later than you thought. If you’re sure on your O date, then I don’t have much advice though I know that some people for whatever reason don’t test positive on urine tests until later in the pregnancy.  If you go a couple more days without AF or a BFP, you could call your doctor and ask for a blood test. Good luck!

Mrs.KMM:  Ah I see…well if I were you, then I’d probably be really impatient and call the doctor for a quantitative blood test. At least then you’ll know either way, and you could also potentially get some answers for why your LP might have lengthened if this isn’t your BFP (but I hope it is!)

Mrs.KMM:  I didn’t get a positive pregnancy test until I was 20 days late.  But I would consider mine more a fluke.

I thought my cycles were pretty regular until I started charting them. The slightest amount of stress puts me off. If AF is still not here in a few days then test again. If you are getting a negative test with no AF after a week then make an appointment with your doctor.

If you’re confident in your O date, it’s definitely possible that you’re just one of those ladies who gets a late positive (I hope so!).  I got a positive on the day of my missed period, but it was suuuuuper faint, and really not even there on the FRER.  It wasn’t actually clearly visible on the FRER (still light, but definitely there) until 2 days later, and I’ve heard of other ladies on here getting their BFP even later.  FX for you!  Generally with these threads, my advice is “You may have just ovulated later than normal” but if you have a pretty consistent LP and didn’t do anything that might change it (adding new meds or supplements), I think you definitely have a shot.

    Good luck!

Mrs.KMM:  funny you should ask, I placed a call to my doctor’s office yesterday as I wasn’t sure what to think. I was called in today to get blood work so I just went and was told results would likely come in Friday so more waiting for me. I’m kinda freaking out as to what it can be if i’m not pregnant. Good luck to us both!!!!

Mrs.KMM:  Yep.  By the time I got that positive, I was nearly 5 weeks along.  So that’s the only reason why I always believe it’s possible until Charlie (as I call my period) comes.
