I have no good excuse. Usually I would take it the exact same time every day and I had an alarm on my cell to make sure.
When I was on vacation this August, my schedule was so different. Sometimes we were at the beach or swimming and I was so distracted cause we were running around all the time. So for around a month, I’ve been either taking them at different times each day, or having to take 2 the next day when I would forget it one day, etc…It’s been SUPER irregular.
Is this cause for concern? I’m probably going to use a second form of birth control for a month, just to be safe.
What do you bees think? Does the irregularity really make a big difference? What have your doctors told you about it?

I’m interested to see some of the responses here, since I’ve just started the Pill and have been wondering what to do if I do miss, skip or whatever some days. But I wish I could help you out! I’d talk to your doc though, if you can.

To be honest, I have done this many times and nothing has happened, BUT everyone is different, and I would use a second form just to be safe…

I think when you are on the pill it has to be the same time within the hour every day. Of all the times I have heard of accidents and being on the pill, it was not taking it within the hour. Being on the patch, I just need to change it the same day but not to the exact hour.

this has happened to me before. your body is confused as its not getting the hormones at the same time like its use to. just get back on shedule and until then, use back up BC! youll be fine! Hope This Helps 🙂

I’ve done this before more times than I should admit to. I’ve been ok so far…but it’s a bad practice and something always could happen.

I know everyone is different but i had the same experience as europomme – while most of the time i took it regularly(daily) i rarely took it as the same exact time everyday and i never seemed to have problems, sometimes i would double up if missed but that was rare. i never had any scares but im just one person and i wouldnt suggest taking the chances -use back up 🙂 – how long have you been taking the pill?

Thanks everyone for their responses!

I think it depends on the pill you are on. I was on Kariva and my PC told me that I could take it within an couple hours and be ok. I was usually pretty good about it and only forgot a couple times. Maybe change the time of day to a time that is easier to remember? I took it right before bed everynight…cut down on the headaches I got too 🙂 The back up method seems like a good idea though.

I’ve been told that you could take it within a 3 hour window and still be okay, but it might depend on the brand/type of BC. I’m horrible at taking mine but I just make sure we use backup so there are no surprises!
