Im a BareMinerals girl all the way! Smashbox does make a great primer though... I think its called photofinish.
I was a bare minerals user, but then switched to pur minerals which covers imperfections betterrrr. Not to mention a lot less messier! haha
Depends on your skin tone. I like how Shu Uemura looks on me, but that's because I'm Asian and it's hard to find foundation that comes exactly in my shade unless I get a custom-made one at Prescriptives.
I would try Bare Minerals at the store before you buy it if you decide to go with that because I was allergic to it and broke out in hives. I guess my skin is too sensitive.
I wear LM and I love her products. I used her makeup on my wedding day--it lasted great and didn't feel heavy.
As someone with problem skin (dry, oily, breakouts, etc) I've found the Smashbox primer to be amazing. I've never tried the Laura Mercier primer but I've heard rave reviews for that as well. As for foundation - I'm a Bare Minerals girl and when I want more coverage, Makeup Forever HD foundation is the best.
Go to makeupalley.com for reviews of products. It's really impossible to say just go with a certain line because each line makes has its own specialties. Laura Mercier makes a great primer for the face. Urban Decay's Eye Potion is the best primer for eyeshadow. Dior's waterproof pencil eyeliner or Bobbi Brown's gel eyeliner applied with a brush. Bobbi Brown makes amazing finishing powder. Depending on your skin tone, Dior or Shu Uemura makes great foundation. YSL Touche Eclat is great concealer, but if you need more coverage go with MAC's Select Cover-Up. Lots of people are pushed by Sephora into buying Diorshow mascara, but the stuff really isn't that great. It has the distinct tendency to clump and make spider leg eyelashes. I really swear by YSL's Faux Cils, which also comes in waterproof for wedding tears :-)
i just started using laura mercier and love it! i can't wait to buy the whole line :) i've switched from bare minerals. my skin tends to be dry and the buffing really made it flaky :(
