My FI and I really don’t do care packages. However…the best thing he sent me were 2 bouquets of roses on the same day.

I was at work and the front desk called down to say I had a pkg. I went downstairs and I got a gorgeous vase  of red roses. I oohed and aahed my way upstairs and before I got them arranged on my desk good, I got another call from the front desk. I go down a second time and there is a huge vase of white roses and a box of gourmet chocolate. My FI called me immediately after I got the second delivery and told me that he wanted to send me a rose for every time I made him smile…but since that would cover my office…he sent me a rose for each time i made him smile that day =) Awww…I am blushing while I am reliving it

For him…I knew that he was having a bad day at work and so I had one of the local florists in the area to send him what I like to call a man bouquet…LOL. It was a tin bucket filled with snacks instead of flowers =) He absolutely LOVED that it was stuff to eat and not flowers. It definitely perked him up.

OK, not really a care package, but Mr. Snow and I did LDR for a year. During one of our together weekends, he got frustrated at a large number of mosquitos swarming him and kinda let out his frustration on traffic cone (ok, he kicked it).

So I mailed him a traffic cone as joke the next week (seriously, you can mail ANYTHING!)…he still has it!

I sent a box of cookies while at college, and his brother who looks like him, picked it up, stole all the cookies and then filled the box up with trash.  Good thing he didn’t throw away the letter that I wrote him.

The cookies were brought into his room by his brothers and other roommates while I was in there hanging out, about a month later.  I promptly stood up and threw the cookies away.

About 2 dozen.

And then I bought his room cookies.  They didn’t pick on me/us anymore. 🙂

FI liked just getting letters from me.  I wrote him every week.

But I did send him a box full of Chai tea bags, a few burned CDs, and pictures of me. 🙂

I was working on recording a CD of myself singing to him so he could put it on his ipod and listen to it when he went to sleep, but his deployment ended before I could finish it

it wasn’t a care package but he was a victim of hurricane katrina and had relocated to portland oregon. but somehow we had both grew up in new orleans just that he was older and we never met till later on. i sent him a picture frame with pictures of different memories of new orleans that we both had. he loved it since it represented a part of the both of us even though we never got to spend any time in that city together.

My hubby had an LDR gf in college before me (for about 4 months) and she used to send him packages.

He always told me not to waste my money buy little things to send to him that he didn’t need, so I never really sent him anything!

But once I did send cookies, a cd and a book since I figured they were all useful things, and when we sent gifts for anniversaries, birthdays and holidays, i tried to make them special. (like photo albums, home made things like ornaments, etc)

Omigosh…i can’t rememeber. I sent care packages every month. It’s sort of standard for military SO’s though.

last year they cut funding for mail to the APO stations…so receiving mail within 10 days became a minimum of 3 weeks. So i couldn’t send fresh baked goods anymore.

Canned frosting+graham crackers were a good substitute. BOoks, orange tic tacs, canned tomato soups, photos, a Rams Stocking, a Christmas ornament, a Soldier’s Bible (verses are sectioned out specifically for a deployed army soldier’s needs), candy, cards, mints, boxes of his favorite chips/crackers/etc that he couldn’t buy at the PX….etc. They had a really bad PX so it really was the little things that counted. Also powdered orange gatorade mix and kool-aids. He loved that. Water was kinda gross over there and this helped cover up the taste.

Also…batteries.

my guy actually sends me more random care packages than i do. once he sent me an optimus prime transformer to congratulate my grades in grad school. haha. awesome.

but the most memorable one was a bag of peanut butter cookie mix [which i thought was a joke because i’ve been on him about baking me peanut butter cookies since he claimed it was his specialty since before we were dating] and box he had painted with some korean words [he’s been teaching himself korean – he’s better than i am!] on it, a little note written in korean, filled with peanut butter cookies. i almost cried.

i’ve sent him a few random care packages but i don’t know which one was his favorite.

We agreed early on to save our money for trips; J offered to send me stuff. I say that, but thinking back… we have sent a few things – like computer software, hahaha…

At the beginining of our relationship my FI was deployed (he’s still in the service), so I was the over ambitious girlfriend and sent him a package every couple weeks. He loved them though, and said that nobody else on his crew got any, so I was making him look good. I would make cookies for his whole crew, too.

We exchange packages fairly regularly. Generally we send each other little treats and gifts that we pick up here and there.

I usually send him clothes (since he hates to clothes shop), Texas chili kits (he *loves* these), American sweets (Reese’s peanut butter cups, etc.), and any little gifts I pick up. DVDs. If I go to a festival or event or something I generally get him something there, since I always wish he had attended with me.

He usually sends me a plush Australian critter (and he keeps track of their names), Aussie sweets (Tim Tams!), and other little souvenir-type items he thinks are fun.

When I first went away to college, we used to send letters to each other (snail mail!) and include one small thing with it to let each other know we were thinking of them. I remember he sent me a little tub of cookies that he baked himself, and he sent me 3 different CDs of his favourite songs to remind me of him. I sent him a pink washcloth – for cleaning up his skinned legs after he played baseball in shorts! And I think his favourite thing that I sent him was a wooden back scratcher. (He loooves a good backscratch when my nails are long, lol!) He liked that so much that he used it until it broke!

There’s something exciting about getting a package in the mail I think Smile and it gave us something to look forward to in between visits.
