Oh man...perfect timing for this thread!!! The last several weeks have been...hard to say the least. LDRs really stink somtimes. We were litterally 2 months from the LDR being over (been in one for a little over 2 1/2 years). And then we got the bomb dropped on us. Due to some injuries he's received during his time in the Army, DH may be medboarding out of the Army...which could take anywhere between 9 months to a year and a half. I literally hit my brickwall and went into a serious funk. DH is having a MRI done today and has another appointment to see if his injuries will qualify him for the medboard. I really hope he choose not to do the medboard. I am so torn. I know he's in pain and wants to be "fixed"...but at the same time, I say "screw it...come up. let's be together, and we'll figure out how to get you better." I seriously don't think I can emotionally handle being apart from him any longer. (I would totally move to where he is, but I can't find a job that pays enough to cover my bills)
1. If all goes as planned, I'll be flying to see DH on Sept. 10th for the weekend.
2. Plans for Labor Day? Most likely assembling my little sister's wedding invitations!!!
3. The sweetest thing my DH has done...honestly, putting up with me the last several weeks during my emotional rollercoaster. The guy is a saint. lol
This has been the hardest time for me. I dont know when I am going to see my FI it has been a month already and due to money constrictions we have no date set to see eachother. It has been pretty upsetting since we have never gone more than a month apart before. Labour Day I will spend with my GFs going to see going the distance lol and having dinner out. My FI does romantic things all the time. Lately he has started posting love songs on my FB lol about 1 a day that he thinks make him think of us. Very sweet...
Well, FI moved from Seattle(I live in Louisiana) about a month ago so he's been home for 4 weeks and we've loved EVERY minute of it. Yesterday, He moved an hour and 1/2 away (to our newly bought house) to start his new job tomorrow. I'm not moving there until we get married. We got sooo use to having a normal relationship for a month i hated to see him leave! I wish he'd just get out of the dang navy already!
1. We'll see each other this weekend...My wedding dress is ready to be picked up and it's about 30 minutes from him yayyy.
2. My bday is ON labor day and he says he has something planned so i dunno yet :) probably something cute.
3. FI hasnt really done anything sweet to ME lately. More so to my daughter. He's been making such an effort with her and bonding with her sooo much lately it melts my heart! He says he's making up for lost time :)
@JessicaL: Louisiana is where my DH is! I'm such a mountain girl and I am DREADING how hot & humid it's going to be when I go down there. I'm hoping for 75 degrees with low humidity...hahaha...I know, it's not gonna happen. lol
My fi just got deployed last Wednesday so I'm LDR till he comes back.
1.) October for my birthday :(
2.) A friend's birthday party two hours away; haven't seen her in awhile so it will be fun.
3.) Sweetest thing: Finding a way to call me during my wake hours from the base to another base to have his friend transfer to me..even if it was eight am on my day off :P
@floridabeachbride: My wedding is in October - I promise, it's coming way too quickly! haha... I feel your pain though, I totally remember how hard those months can be when they add up!

Going to see Going the Distance with a friend on Friday, facials and lunch with my mom on Saturday, Family BBQ on Sunday and Monday will be a ME-day - relaxing all day long! :)
3. What's the sweetest thing your FI has done recently?
Took me on an impromptu wine-tasting trip to Napa (it is semi-cose to where he is living now) when I went to visit him this last weekend, he knows I think wine-tasting is so romantic!
Next visit is mid Sept. For labor day? Not much, probably homework. And something sweet that he has done recently? Given me a back rub when I wasn't feeling good during our last visit this past weekend >.<. I know that last one doesn't seem like a lot, but we only see each other once a month, so it means the world to me :)

1) not sure. we briefly discussed a thanksgiving trip but he also offered to help me and my mom move but we don't have a moving date just yet so we'll see. we did just see each other at the end of june/early july.
2) just hanging out with family and maybe friends. also have some group work to do. my graduate program doesn't care if its a holiday weekend. boo!
3) he's been running around like crazy trying to find all the components for my birthday gift [it was early this august]. he feels bad that he hasn't sent it yet but he wants it to be perfect.
Sounds like a few of you are planning to see Going The Distance - let me know how it is, I'm trying to talk J into seeing it with me, but he claims to hate chick flicks, haha...
@JsDragonfly:hahaha YEA RIGHT. When are you coming down? If it's anytime before the beginnning of november there will be NO 75 degree weather :( lol
My first check in! :)
Although we did 6 months of long distance when we were first dating, this weekend marks the return to LDR for FH and I. He finished his PhD and got a job in Vancouver and is on his way out there now.
1. I'm planning to go out to visit him in BC the 23-28th of Sept, so not too long to go before I can see him. It will also be the first time I see our new apartment.
2. This has been a crazy moving weekend for me. I moved back in with my parents and am trying to get settled, Everything seems to weird.
3. My FH is a sweetie and is already planning activities for us when I go to visit him. So far we're going to go to Stanley Park and the Vancouver aquarium as well as taking a day trip to go apple picking. I think we're also going to see Going the Distance while I'm there.
Ah, FI and I were just talking about this last night over facebook chat because he has been in training for his upcoming deployment for the past four weeks. We have been dating since August of 2005, married in May of 2010 in that time we will have been separated due to his military schedule/deployments/assignments etc. for approximately 55% of that time and only lived together for 5 months before getting married. He is preparing for his second deployment to Iraq for a very undetermined amount of time. Basically if they can shut it down fast they get out fast, maybe less than 9 months, if it takes them a long time then they could be there for over 15 months.
I just feel like we have been cheated out of our first year of marriage. He will be gone for the vast majority of it and we will not get to have those "first christmas", "first anniversary", "first whatever" experiences. :/
1) He comes home on Wednesday!!
2) I will be studying. :(
3) He snuck me a phone call, even though he wasn't supposed to, because it was my first day back to school in my pursuit of a career change.
@Miss_Riley: I totally feel for you. I know the feeling of being "cheated out" of your first year of marriage. I've seen my hubby twice in he 9 months we've been married. Before that, I saw him 2 times in the 10 months we were in engaged...and before that, he was deployed. When i think of the actual time we've spent together since we've been together, it is so sad and depressing (just because there has hardly been anytie)...but...not much else we can do is there? The military is definitely a hard cookie to deal with sometimes :)
Hey all, yay a check in. I'm doing ok, I saw "Going the Distance" on Friday and loved it :)
1. When's the next time you'll see your SO? 9 days before our wedding for like 2 hours! He'll fly into Dulles and have a layover for a few hours before he goes to Vegas for his bach. party. I'm gonna drive down ( three hour drive) So I can at least see him and have dinner w/ him! The last time we saw each other was MAY!
2. What plans do you have for Labor Day Weekend? Working, ew! But next weekend is my bachelorette weekened!
3. What's the sweetest thing your FI has done recently? We he wires me money every so often to pay for wedding stuff, and he just did it this past week. He told me to take some of it to get a massage b/c he knows how stressed out I've been! (And I waitress as a 2'nd job and it's murder on your back!) So I got an 80 min. massage yesterday :)
My honey and I are in the home stretch!
1) 10 weeks until he's home!
2) No plans for the weekend. I am currently printing out wedding invitations, keeping me plenty busy. Well, I must say its been a rather lonely weekend. Le sigh.
3) It was our 4 year anniversary on friday, and he sent me a sweet e-card. Not to mention all the sweetness he sends me everyday. I am truly lucky!
1) January :( Though we recently spent an awesome two weeks together in Japan and Taiwan :)
2) A friend's birthday party.
3) He recently told me that he's been keeping track of everything ring-related that I talk about. Whether it's a picture I send him, or a style I mention that I like, he's been writing down every little detail. That was really surprising and touching :)
