I feel like "Such Great Heights" by Postal Service is a popular LDR first dance song. The cover by Iron and Wine is much slower and not synthesized.
"Lucky" by Jason Mraz and Colbie Calliat is popular and that's clearly about a LDR. It's also a really pretty and sweet song.
This is one of our songs. I didn't use it at the wedding because every time I hear one of our songs I burst out in tears. It is 'Carrying Your Love with Me' by George Strait.
Ours will be Love Song (the 311 cover).

We won't be having an official first dance, but if we were going to, I'd want to use Patsy Cline's "You Belong to Me." Definitely an LDR song.
Also, when I was living in South Africa last summer, I used to have to change the channel whenever "Lucky" came on to the MTV station at the gym, because I got too emotional - and it's not even that I like the song that much!
We haven't decided on our song yet - but I'm thinking Such Great Heights! I love this song.

Our song is "Alabama" by Cross Canadian Ragweed, but i'm a bigger fan of "Feet don't touch the ground" by Brandon Jenkins, for a wedding, so that will more than likely be it. He only likes a few country songs (these being two of them) and if we danced to that I'd like to two-step. Ha. So that will be a little hard to convince him to do.

Great thread. Our first dance most likely won't center around the LDR nature of our relationship history, though we will be honoring that element of our love through our ring vow: from the book of Ruth, "Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay."
This thread is so helpful! After 4 years of doing the LDR, we've tentatively chosen At Last.
I have to admit, though, that the lyrics to Shania's "You're Still the One" probably fits us better.

has anyone ever head the song 10 hours by warren barfield? me and my boyfriend were in a LDR for 1.5 years (and will be again for 3 months this summer...hrmph.) and absolutely fell in love with this song. it's been his ringtone for 2 years now and i doubt i'll ever be able to change it - such a comfort when i hear it!:)

the major reason we love our first dance song so much is because it was very significant to us when we were long-distance. it's 'patience' by guns n roses. i highlighted the parts that mean the most to us.

I think our first dance will be Miranda Lambert's Making Plans. The song just seemed to fit us, especially since we're LDR and ALWAYS making plans for the next visit/phone call/holiday etc :)
I *love* Such Great Heights, especially the Iron and Wine version. It really is the perfect LDR song. It was very significant for my boy and I when we did 6 months of long distance at the beginning of our relationship, and I'm sure it will help get me through the year of LDR that we have coming our way soon.
I always thought of it as more of a "walking down the aisle" song than a first dance song, but I think it would work either way.

Hey LDRs what is everyone thinking for their first dance as a married couple song together? Is anyone going with anything that summarizes the distance and their shared love ? I need some ideas I'm having trouble deciding on a song and same with my fiance.
