So for Christmas I bought my parents a 5 quart oval Le Crueset dutch oven in Ocean. It’s gorgeous! However, I have heard many reviews both saying LC or Staub are basically the same. Staub is about $50 cheaper then LC. I was curious if anyone has either of these and what you think of them. Should I get the Staub instead? Thanks!

Full disclosure: I’ve never used any Staub products (I’ve heard only good things though).
DH and I are foodies and we adore all our Le Cresuet items. We are particularly in love with our 4.7 litre French oven, which we use for everything from curries to braised meat to stews.
Honestly, I’m guessing that you probably can’t go wrong either way.

I have a 5 qt oval from Staub. It’s just black and not the smooth enamel like LC is. However, while I don’t have the LC to compare it to, I love it. I had the same thoughts last year when my girlfriends gave me a gift card to Sur La Table for my birthday. I ultimately went to Staub as they were running a good sale on the one I wanted and the saleswoman basically told me that it’s the same quality for less. I don’t regret my decision but I do love the look of the Le Crueset.

I have a 7.5 qt LC and I love it but have never used Staub. I’m sure they’re basically the same thing. I know LC has a lifetime warranty so it may be worth it for the extra $.
