- Wedding: May 2014
First off let me say, David’s Bridal is alright with me. DB gets a bad rap, but I think it has A LOT to do with the area that you live in. Yesterday I decided to go an look around at dresses on a whim. I really wanted to try on different shapes to see what looked well with my shape. I have a vision of myself on my wedding day with a mermaid style fit and flare dress with head to toe lace preferably chantilly, BUT I want to be open minded about styles because there is always an opportunity to be wowed by somthing you never expected, and I was. I tried on about 5 fit and flare dresses and they were all pretty, fitting perfectly, but they didn’t knock my socks off. I went stumbled upon a dress that was on clearance and asked to try it on. It was gorgeous, but not what I envisioned so I was conflicted.
Do I keep searching for my vision? I got comments like, this dress is retiring (which it really is soon), the store people ooohed and ahhhed, hell I ooh and ahhed. I felt beautiful, but I wondered if it was appropriate for an outdoor ceremony and reception. I wonderd if I would sweat to death, of course I would because the dress is satin. BUT the dress is so lovely! I wondered if my vision was wrong because I really like this dress. Anyway, I put I on lay away…Then it happened…When I got home I had THEEEE WORST dress regret ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I woke up several times throughout the night. Called my SO this morning and he really helped me sort out my thoughts. Gosh I love that man, he’s so patient and kind. Anyway, I’m cancelling the lay away, and it’s costing 10% of the total, but I don’t care because I learned a great lesson that will help me find what I love. I also learned what happens when you don’t go with what you love. Don’t stray from what your vision is, even if the dress is pretty, don’t go straight for price, don’t let the oohs and ahhs get to you. Be silent take the dress in. I can’t wait to go dress shopping again!!!!
Of course there are going to be beautiful dresses!! DUH!! So just stay focused, and if you are going just to look, tell them.
Here’s a pic of the dress…Excuse my hair I was trying to mimick a half up, half down style…
Hope this helps a Bee like me!
