Hi bees. I know basics of crochet, but I’m looking for ways to learn more stitches & I’m also thinking about giving knitting a go. My sister is due with a baby girl in April, so this has made me decide I want to knit or crochet, lol. I really want to make a baby blanket and some other things for the new baby.
Any tips for a newbie? I don’t really know anyone that does either, so there goes that. I’ve watched some videos on youtube with just casting on & such. But I haven’t tried any books or anything yet.

Ironically, over the last few days, I’ve taught myself to crochet and am actually halfway done with my first baby afghan! It took me a whole day to get the whole “double crochet” stitch down, but I did and it’s looking good! I followed a video on Youtube and I think it was called, “Sugar Pop Baby Afghan” or something like that. I bought a beginner’s set that came with a book and DVD, but I’ve never looked at either one.

Youtube is your friend. It’s my go-to reference whenever I need a refresher on a knit or crochet stitch or term. Good luck and have fun!

@Narwhal: +1 I love youtube! I knit four times a year and I usually forget each stitch.

DH taught me very basic knitting. I’ve learned a lot of additional stuff fro YouTube.
