Yep.  I’ve been married a year and a half, and I still almost sign my maiden name.  Just the other day someone asked me what my last name was & I said the wrong one.  Oops!

I sign my name a lot for work, and I definitely have to think before I write. I’m getting better at introducing myself as Firstname NewLastName, but every once in a while I’ll slip up.

I’m not surprised really, I’ve been OldLastName longer than new. It’s actually kind of nice to know that all the new people I’ve met since the wedding (and will continue to meet) will only ever know me by my married name, so at least they won’t mess it up!

Perfectly normal! The first couple of months I still signed my maiden name and introduced myself with my maiden name by accident. Now it’s been over a 1yr and a half and it just became a habit. One day you will stop answering to your maiden name and that is the scary part lol

I just scribbled for a couple months. My checks still have my maiden name and I’m constantly confused about which name I should sign.

Haha, I have been working on mine! I always had kind of a scribble and wanted a really nice script signature, so I’ve been trying to transition to that, but it takes so long to write. Hopefully I’ll get the hang of it soon πŸ™‚

ETA: it’s kind of a slow day at the office, so I just spent about 5 minutes practicing mine…

We’ve been married almost five months and I’m so glad to see I’m not the only one that hasn’t changed my name..yet. the reason being is my BC is in Washington DC and it will take FOREVER to get it from the military records. I just received notice it will FINALLY be here today. thank GOD. my husband and I joked when I told him we may actually get to change things next week- well my dear, you may end up being a thompson this year after all lmao.

can’t wait to get my name changed and start signing away…gotta practice though..

I am horrible with cursive Rs and I now have TWO in my last name! Needless to say the beautiful signature I’ve worked on for almost 30 years is totally ugly now! LOL!!!!

tell me about it..I’m a Wedding Officiant or correction, I was..So I got so used to one name that changing my name is like blasphemy..I was married to my ex-husband for like 11 years and unfortunately got stuck with his last name for legality purposes (my credentials, all of my diploma’s etc.- BIG headache to change)

can’t wait to start the doodling with hearts and x’s and o’s…I’m ready to step into my Mrs. T role and out of MRS. N. can’t wait to retire that name..
