I can't believe it - for the first time in 7 months, I forgot to put my ring on before leaving for work this morning. I was typing an email at work and thought "hmm, something feels off." I look down and . . . *gasp* . . . my left ring finger in naked!

After a brief moment of panic ("I didn't lose it. I couldn't have lost it. I didn't lose it . . . did I?"), I figured I never took it out of its little dish after getting ready. My morning routine was thrown out of whack (I mean, I almost forgot to feed the cat this morning!) and I missed the step prior to putting on the ring, so I then missed the subsequent step of actually putting it on. I did send my FH a quick email to double-check that's where it was (he was working from home this morning) and almost asked him to stop by my office on his way to work so I could rid myself of this awful naked feeling I've had all day. But stopped myself. However, when I get home, I can tell you what my first step will be after taking off my shoes.

How do you guys react when you realize you forgot to put on one small, sparkly, expensive thing?

Oh I know what you mean!  I feel like I'm missing my hand if I don't wear my rings out.  Honestly, if I can, I usually go back home and get it but I wouldn't leave work for it or anything.  Just if I was going to the store or something.

It feels so weird to have a "naked" finger and it shocks me that I feel this way b/c I never wore jewelry before I got my e-ring.

Hubby's ring is getting resized this week and he said it feels weird without it too, he's only been wearing it for 4 months!

Ahhh! I did it once and realized it while driving to work then turned around and was late to work. lol. I only take it off to wash my face. So sorry your day wasnt "sparkling" as usual. : ) But it does feel like a peice of you is missing when you forget it!

I've done stuff like that before - not with my ring, 'cause I never take it off, but I know how you feel! It drives me nuts!

My ring broke on Saturday, so I have been without it since then!  My hand feels totally naked!  And I am a twitcher, so I reach to twirl my ring around my finger about 30 times a day, and it's not there :-(

@blondiebee - I've done that too, turned around after leaving the house.  It was mostly b/c I knew my ring was sitting by the sink and I was afraid the cat would play with it and lose it.  Then again, I'm sure I'd find it under the stove with the rest of his toys :-p

@otb -I do the same thing I twist and play with it all the time. I hate those days when I forget my ring. I have never worn rings until I got my engagement ring so it is funny that I miss it so much when I don't have it.

@Daiseybride- lol your cats sound cute!

@otb- omg so sorry your ring broke! You must be lost with out it. I constantly twirl my rings. They are too big so they spin alot. I have to give up my ring for a few days to get it sized sometime. But I dont want to. :(

I was having my ring sized and ran into into one of my superiors on the street who just pointedly kept staring at my hand as if I had been jilted. Ugh. I enjoyed running into him a week later with a very sparkly ring on my hand.

I am so afraid of doing this! I won't even run out to get milk without it on! And now FI has me putting it in a new spot since the old one was too near a sink and I keep forgetting to put it on!!

Ive done the same thing, looked down while driving and had a mini freak out that I forgot my ring.  I know where it is, but it still bothers me if I forget it!  I feel sooo bad when I do and my finger definitely looks weird!

It feels so weird, doesn't it?!  I only take mine off to shower (or do heavy duty housework) and I forgot it one day when I left to work also.  I hated it all day!

Eek!  I did that once, about 3 months after getting engaged and had that sheer terror/panic every hour when I'd glance down or brush my hand against something and realize it wasn't there.

I actually made FI go home (his office is 4 blocks from home, mine is 15), get it from the ring holder in the bathroom and put it in my jewelry box.  I now follow my gramma's words of wisdom:  Anytime I take my ring off, I put it in my mouth!

For the first month or two I forgot to put it on almost everyday. Now, almost a year later I DO feel naked without it. I have gone back in the house for it a few times after making it out to the driveway and realizing it's not on, but once I'm in the car and headed to where I'm going, I am not going back just for my ring....I'll notice it's missing the whole time I'm out though. It's strange because I never wore any rings before either.

I'm always absently playing with my ring.  If I've left it at home, you'd be surprised how time's a day I get a shock when I reach for it and it's not there (we're talking like double-digits).  It's like I forget and then have a momentary freak out before I remember that it's still at home!

The one time I forgot my ring, I made FI bring me it after my first period. My students were like, "Ms. H, where's your ring? What happened?" Haha. Silly high schoolers.

I've forgotten it three times, once during exam week. And it drives me absolutely bonkers because it's always stress related that I forget to put it on!!! AHHH!

I had to get my ring resized only a couple days after getting it. It was only at the jeweler for one night and my left ring finger felt really weird and twitchy without it. It was like I was having phantom ring sensations. Very strange. And I had only had the ring for a couple of days at this point.

I only wear mine when I leave the house.  I have never forgotten it when I go to work or go out without FI, but I have a habit of always forgetting it when FI and I get breakfast at a restaurant on Saturday and Sunday mornings.  That doesn't bother me since we are together, but I wouldn't like to be missing it when he isn't with me.

i know exactly what you mean!

i've done the "forgot to put it on in a rush through my morning routine thing" once.

but, just the other day, i TOTALLY completely forgot that i had taken it off and put it in the case.. (i have no idea why)... i was in the kitchen doing the dishes later on in the day... and FREAKED OUT when i saw that i had no ring.

my dumbass didnt remember that i had put it away .. PANIC!
