Let me preface by saying that I cannot get a straight answer on this on Google!
So, we had a 90-serving cake for 64 people for our wedding on Saturday night, so there was quite a bit left over (on top of the top tier reserved for next year).
My husband and I have made a good dent in it already since Saturday, but there are still at least four or five servings left and I really don’t want to throw it out yet. It’s a white almond cake with raspberry filling and almond buttercream frosting, and it’s been refrigerated since Sunday on a plate wrapped in Saran wrap.
Is it still okay to eat? I don’t see any mold and the cake itself is still moist.

@leenh78: I am super cautious about leftovers so my general rule of thumb is a week. However, if it tastes and smells fine without any mold I would say you are okay.

@Treejewel19: I like the way you think. My rule’s 1 week too! If it still looks, smells & tastes the same after that, I feed it to DH’s friends.
I feel like raspberry filling might make the cake soggy. I’d toss it once it starts to lose its firmness but if its still keeping it together & looking delicious, GO TO TOWN!! 😀

I ate most of my leftovers and I threw the rest out after a week (I had gotten through most of it by then) . Mine was so delicious I ate it every night!! It probably would have been okay a few days beyond that though.

@leenh78: i wouldn’t know b/c cake does not last that long in my house.
you can always freeze it if you don’t think you will consume it in a reasonable timeframe.

http://www.stilltasty.com says 7 days in fridge. I bet you could go a bit longer. It might get a little stale but it won’t hurt you.

@leenh78: 7 days is my general rule of thumb for cooked food unless it smells, looks funny, or it’s chicken or fish (3 days for those).

The general rule on Leftovers is 3 or 4 Days.
BUT cake (like bread) is a lot more stable than a lot of things (veggies, meat, etc)… so you should be able to get away with up to 7 Days.
Lol, altho if there was Cake, Pie or other Desserts in my Fridge, I too wouldn’t have to worry about timelines… cause they’d be gone already !!
Hope this helps,

We had a lot of cake left over from our wedding too. Since we were heading on our honeymoon the next day, I stuck it in the freezer while we were gone. I thawed it out when we got home, and it lasted about another week after that. It started to get stale after a while.

We ate wedding cake for over a week. At $10/slice we weren’t throwing that shit away!
Plus it was so good!

I’m sure 7-10 days is fine. You can also freeze it.

@This Time Round: +1. I’d be happy to help you eat the cake, OP! 😀
