I am not yet married, but I bave been to several weddings. All that i have been to have had a longer garter toss than bouquet. This was just because of the time it takes to take the garter off and then shoot it to the crowd. The bouquet toss just takes picking up your flowers and tossing them. It will probably take more time to assemble people than the actual customs. I suggest maybe find a nice instamental, or loop something that can be cut off easily for them so it doesnt end, yet you d ont cut off in the middle of a verse..
Okay, so literally every wedding I have attended this summer (and it's been 6...soon to be 7) has played Beyonce's Single Ladies for the bouquet toss. I am not necessarily suggesting that song, because to be honest, after the first four weddings, it got a little repetitive. However, the DJ invited the ladies to come up and dance around for a good thirty seconds or so to get us pumped up for the toss, and then brought the bride up, and then had us dance around a little more before the toss. So I'd say that total, it was a minute and a half to two minutes.
I agree that the garter portion is usually a little longer because it seems the men like to make a big show of bringing the bride up, looking for the garter, etc. However, the men don't usually dance around beforehand as much as the women, so maybe they are a little more even than you'd think. Your DJ can probably help you with this, also (if you are having one). You can also always have your music fade in/fade out when the activities begin and end, customizing it to how long it takes in actuality.
Haha, we're definitely NOT playing "Single Ladies" for the toss. I want to make it clear that not only single ladies should come out for the catch (I hated being dragged out on the floor in the past, even with a serious boyfriend) and that it's just for all the Pretty Girls who want some flowers. I'd like to play "Oh Yeah" by Big Tymers because the beginning says "To all the pretty young ladies, out there in Pretty Young Lady Land...". However, it gets explicit pretty quickly. Hence the timing issues...
I went to one where they played "Milkshake" by Kelis... it was so hilarious. The girls were loving it, but the entire ceremony of it all lasted less than the song :)

For all you married bees, how long did the bouquet toss last? I'm trying to figure out the length of song that I need (or what section of a song I want). Is it like a minute? Less than that? I'm assuming the garter toss would last about the same length as the bouquet.
