Currently my luteal phase is 7 days. (I don't O til CD 21 based on CM and temping)

Of course I've googled tons and read any related posts on this board... but I was hoping to hear some first hand accounts from others who have had this issue and what you've done to lengthen it. Plus - HAS IT WORKED?

I'm currently taking 200mg B6 daily. Not sure if I should take it all at one time. Or spread it out during the day. Hoping 200mg will make a difference but not sure if that'll be a 1 day diff or more.

I'll probably go see my doc in the next month or two (should probably call now for an appt because they make you wait FOREVER to get in) but I'm pretty confident based on previous appts their suggest will be to start me on Clomid to force me to O earlier in my cycle. Not really sure if O'ing earlier would effect the luteal phase - wouldn't everything shift? (I'd like to try other options before CLOMID for personal reasons - but please tell me if this method worked for you!)

    Thanks!

Mine was down to 8-9 days and I started a vitamin B complex.   That was a few yrs ago.  I definitely would talk to your doctor.

I agree about talking to your doctor. My doctor has me taking vitamin B6. I'm just starting that though this cycle so I'm not sure if it'll help yet. Good luck!

I took prometrium (progesterone) this past cycle.  It certainly lengthened my LP...to 25 days and I had to stop it to get AF.

I think using bioidentical progesterone cream is supposed to help lengthen the luteal phase. You might google Dr. Lee who kind of started the progesterone therapy thing, or ask a naturopath about it.

High amounts of vitamin C, B6, and progesterone help a luteal phase defect.

@eryepye:  I agree with this.  Get bioidentical progesterone cream.

I have heard maca root can sometimes help with that, easy enough to get and worth trying.

@lotam240:Yeppppp. From 3 DPO to 12 DPO. If I don't start AF by 16 DPO I take a pregnancy test. If it's positive I start the prometrium again, if not....we wait lol.

I had a LPD. Mine was 9 days at the very longest over several cycles. I tried everything, Vitex, accupuncture, B6, etc. for several more cycles. Nothing helped. I finally met with a fertility specialist who recommended we just start TTC anyway, and that she would have a Prometirum prescription ready for my BFP. I got pregnant on the first try and used a progesterone cream from GNC until I could get the prescription filled. It worked! Baby is happy and healthy.
