I would call the bakery and talk to them--maybe go in for a tasting too. I don't think it's necessarily too good to be true.
I just signed with Jennifer at Custom Cakes & Confections. Jennifer runs the business out of her home and her prices are $4/slice. BUT, since we've got an outdoor wedding in July, our display/cutting cake will have 2 fake tiers and one real cake (so the cake doesn't melt and slide apart). Our guests will be served sheet cake, and Jennifer is just charging us regular sheet cake prices. (That's right, our wedding cake for 150 is under $300!)
I'm trying to link to Jennifer's website, but every time I hit "insert link" a lovely empty box pops up. So here's the URL: www.customcakesandconfections.com
I've stopped by Les Delices a few times just for an on-the-way-home-from-work snack. I've tried a few of the little single serving mousse cakes and pastries, and they're good but not amazing. The woman who runs it, thought, is incredibly sweet- I think she'd be lovely to work with, so if I were you I'd try to set up a tasting, or swing by and sample something.
I bought my fabulous wedding cake from Les Delices, for my wedding on July 5th 2011. The most beautiful day, most romantic setting, handsomest groom, delicous and elegant wedding cake.
All of my guests were soo impressed and would not stop raving about my cake, clearly I chose well :)
They are affordable, and very kind. It was such a pleasure to work with these sweet people. From my concerns, to my desires they were always warm and welcoming to me. A true pleasure to do business with for my special day!
I had the MOST beautiful cake. It was a 3 tiered chocolate mousse cake, with darck chocolate and white chocolate panels surrounduing every tier of my cake.
They have a picture of a cake similar to mine (with the chocolate panels) on their website url: http://www.lesdelicesbakery.com/ ( mine was 3 tiered though).
~Ah to be in sweet love .

I've been calling around about wedding cakes and finding the general price range from some of the fancy-pants bakeries to be about $5.50-$6.50 a serving. (Those quotes were from Balducci's, Just Cakes and some other "boutique" bakery close to where we live in Bethesda.) We had received a vendor recommendation sheet from one of the sites we visited and they had listed Les Delices in Rockville. I called them and found out -- WOW -- their cakes start at $3.50 a serving!
I have not visited there yet but from what I understand they are a pretty small operation, which is why (I assume) their price is so low. Has anyone out there used them? Is this just a case of "too good to be true"?
